My rotostart just spins in the hole? It dosent turn the engine over at all - could this be the one way bearing, if so do i need a new one or should i be able to fix the one I've got? - Someone told me it could be the starting pin or spring, but I've checked and they look ok.
Thanks.

Sounds like your one-way. Pull your rotostart plate off and remove the one-way. Make sure all the little rollers are still there and secure then give it a thorough cleaning with denatured alcohol. Make sure it is completely dry before re-installing.

It is a good idea to have a spare one-way on hand for field emergencies. A slipping one-way will end your day and having a spare can keep you going.

Almost forgot. Wipe down the shaft itself with DA as well.

Thanks. The one way did end my day today. Me and a mate were enjoying half term when it started to slip. Just taken it apart and will do the alcohol thing.

Just to make sure - is meths classed as denatured alcohol?
Thanks.

I've done the alcahol thing - look at what came out......

One way bearing.webp

Those appear to be some of the one way pins and you will have to get a new one way.

How does the shaft coming out of the mill look? It should be shiny without any markings.

Shaft looks good - the car is only a few months old so has not had much wear. The alcohol thing worked well, very usefull advice, i used meths, which i think is the same sort of thing - the one way still works even with those pins out (can i put them back in?).
Dan - Still running the stock 4.1.

If it still grabs then give it a try.

this had happend to my dads hot bodies but the pins didn't fall out, i would buy a new one and you tried puting them back in?

you got a savage x?

Yep savage x. Sort of tried puttin them back in but didnt know which way round they go. Put it back together, and it sometimes grips and sometimes dosent. Will definatley get a new one.
Thanks for your help.
