I just bought a rotostart and installed it. It starts the truck trhe first few times but then something starts slipping after I run the first tank through it. If I disassemble and clean everything like one way bearing and all rotostart components it will work right again. I looked when I had it apart the the litle pin that goes into the crank and fits into the one way bearing shaft looks like it has been slipping. How could I fix this. Thanks Matt
 
hey dude i think what your talkin about happened to me. i dont know what it is but i just had to buy a whole new one way bearing. I'm not sure if the same thing happened to me but it sounds like it. i think the thing that is messed up is inside the messed up. you should try to shake the bearing and if like little metal stuff fall out then you need a new one. sorry if you dont understand what I'm sayin, I'm kinda new and dont know what the peices are called.

Agreed, I would replace the one way bearing. Mine went bad once and now I have a spare in my parts.
 
I got a roto, it is upon my book shelf, it don't work.

Rotostart haiku.

IMO, the roto is a bit harsh on the 1 way and the crank shank. It's like all the way right off the bat, and if the engine is tight, or has a bit too much fuel in the case, or there is too much (or too little) oil in the 1 way, it just chews on the bearing and the shank. Quite different from tugging on the pull start. Yeah, I have a roto, and it is sitting on a shelf.
 
Thanks for all your anwsers I will tear it apart again and take a closer look at the one way. Matt

I'm with you the Roto has too much torque. The gear ratio is way too low. I have blown 2 one way bearings in my hyper. At 25 bucks a pop. If your motor is running right and you know just how to start it the pull start is fine...Roto Start is a rip off
 
I like the roto start. I did go through one bearing but I can live with that because it was my fault more than the starters. I've had no problems with it for the last few months.
 
I have a rotostart and switched back to the pull-start cause it ate through a few bearing. which are not arent really that expensive but like someone said at $25 for a piece of metal thats the size a peanut that just starts my r/c. Save yourself a headache and 50 bones.
