I'm really getting tired of this.I've ripped off two antennas now. I can't remember where I saw it but I saw something about using a lexan strip with some holes in it and just looping the antenna around the strip and keeping it inside the body. Has anybody else tried this?? I think I'm going to try it regardless but I was just wondering if anyone knows for sure that it works without affecting the range.

It has no effect on the range. If you tie a knot in the antenna, it's basically been shortened to that point. The lexan strip has holes drilled up each side (about 1 1/2 inch wide strip) and the antenna goes from side to side through the holes. It doesn't double over itself, but creates a Z pattern along the strip. It stays inside the car where it can't get ripped loose, and doesn't get tangled on anything.

why don't you just re-route the antenna to shoot out the back? Just drill a hole on the back window of the body if its a truck style and push it that way.

Let us know

Jon

Well I did it with the Lexan strip but I can't test it until the hobbyshop gets my crystal set for the Hitec DCX on Friday so I'm SOL till then

Just tie wrap it to the roll bar and leave it inside the body. Mine has been like this for ages, it never breaks and i have no loss of range.

I thought about just doing that too but I was afraid of it bending and getting caught in the spur gear while jumping.I think the lexan strip will do the trick I just have to wait for the right crystals for the receiver.

If you don't like it inside the body you could install an aluminum antenna mount (one with a tightening nut). I used the Ofna one and it works great, haven't had it come loose yet. It looks like what Dogpile may be using? I also put a short piece of fuel tubing over the antenna tube where it goes through the body to help protect that part in a rollover instead of getting bent so badly...

I've not broken more antenna since I did a rear whindow hole.

DOGPILE, your svage needs a good cleaning!. Good idea with the antenna!

Well.....The first time was at the BMX track and the truck landed up side down and slid a little across the dirt. This last time I was driving on the street and and it fliped over while doing a wheelie and slid across the road.

Well, Just be careful and maybe fit a wheelie bar. RamTech-RC do a nice one!

Anyone else notice the background in Kazi's pic?? Damn I wish my backyard looked like that!

the lexan will work but if it get's on your nerves taking up too much space, do what Kazi or Dogpile did and you shouldn't ever rip one up again.

I also recomend what Kazi has done in his pic. i did mine that way and it works great.

Nice place isn't it? those are the mountains from the border of Spain and France, I bought an appartment there, mostly for the sky season, but now I have a new reason to expend some days there due two months ago walking on the mountain near the town I found this.

I couldn't believe that somebody in that small Hilly town whould have a r/c car, but I was there two weeks ago and it seems that they are working in a new wood podium, I hope to meet those guys one day. Here you have an other pic
