RIP Tony Gwynn

Tony was one of the true great roll models. Not only for me growing up but for all kids of his generation. He was all that was good about the sport of baseball. A true ambassador of the sport. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame with my hero growing up Cal Ripken Jr.

Gwynn was amazing, and has some stats that may never be beaten. For example, over 15 seasons and 10,000 at bats, only 434 strikeouts. Some guys have had that many in a single season. And he has twice as many games with 4 or more hits, as games with 2 or more strikeouts.

Reading those stats its still hard to believe. It will be a long time if ever we see a hitter like gwynn. Griffey jr had a sweet swing and the long ball....but gywnn was a true master at the plate.
