Caleb Moore, 25 year old snocross freestyler becomes the first death in 17 years at the 2013 winter x games. Very sad news.

So very sad. These are true athletes who push all the limits. Luckily death in these sports are fairly rare, but not rare enough. RIP Caleb.

They are considering canceling the freestyle snocross event for next year after three of the four riders crashed during the event. One of the riders being Caleb's brother Colton, who was also injured. Levi Levalli was the only one who was able to complete his run.

This has got to be one of the most unsafe sports in all of x-games history. I can understand flipping a dirtbike and have ridden bikes most of my life but flipping a 400+ sled. To me that is just asking for trouble and is probably over the line of what should be taking place at the Xgames,

I'm sure he was still okay when he hit the ground, but that machine going nose first into his abdomen was the end.
Back flips on a snowmobile should be banned. I always knew it was the extreme danger stunt that would lead to broken necks.

I blame the course designer(s). Obviously something wasn't right if almost everyone didn't finish a clean run without crashing. But he died from bleeding around the heart along with a severe head injury.

Sent from my Pipboy-3000 in the Capital Wasteland.

Caleb Moore was a personal friend of ours, Tina and I first met him when he was just getting into Freestyle on Atvs, Great kid. He was also a member on my web site when it was up and running....He was one of the Best freestyle atv riders out there!

RIP CALEB MOORE......

Sleds just aren't meant for doing flips. They don't rotate as nicely as a bike, but it is cool to watch.

RIP Caleb.

I have watched some of his videos when he was on his quad, he was a very talented rider.

Damn what a shame, the crash looked so harmless too! RIP Caleb..

Caleb Moore was attempting a backflip in the freestyle event in Aspen last week when the skis on his 450-pound snowmobile caught the lip of the landing area, sending him flying over the handlebars. Moore landed face first into the snow with his snowmobile rolling over him.

Moore stayed down for quite some time, before walking off with help and going to a hospital to be treated for a concussion. Moore developed bleeding around his heart and was flown to a hospital in Grand Junction for surgery. The family later said that Moore, of Krum, Texas, also had a complication involving his brain
.

I will say I used to watch pretty much every event in xgames but over the last few years when it came to winter X if it didn't include a snowmobile I didn't care. this is by far my favorite contest and I hope it doesn't go away. The Moores are both amazing riders on snow or dirt. RIP Caleb
