Over the weekend I was bashing and after I took a medium sized jump in the dirt my right rear wheel came flying off and the nut was lost. I removed and replaced that nut 2 times in the past so I figured that maybe the locking nylon insert was worn. I went to my LHS and bought 4 new HPI locking wheel nuts.
I installed a brand new nut on my right-rear axle and made sure that all four nuts were very tight. As per the HPI instruction manual I have the black nuts and axles on the right side of the vehicle (pipe side) and the silver nuts and axles on the left side of the vehicle (throttle linkage side). I tighten the nuts on both sides by rotating them towards the front of the truck (right side clockwise, left side counter-clock wise).
Today I took the truck out to a bashing area and after I took two fairly large jumps my right-rear tire came flying off again and the new nut is nowhere to be found. I do not know why the brand new nut came off but the hex inside my rim is now starting to show signs of rounding off due to running it with a loose axle nut.
Has anyone had problems with the right-rear nut coming off after jumps? I am not sure what to do about this.
