Still shopping for 1/8 truck. Any advice on Revo Vs. Savage?? Thanks, Hoody

I recommend a Revo and I have 2 Savages. The Revo is truely ready to run, the Savage is not in my opinion. The throttle linkage on a savage needs to be modified in order to function effieciently and effectively, and the steering servo is weak.

Can anyone of you that have talked bad of either ride have either ride? I have and I have to say the REVO is very exceptional. I also have the savage, haven't driven this one yet enough. I can say that BOTH are damn strong, Hella fast and reliable. I think that too much bias to one without ever owning one is wrong to say the other one is less of a truck. Both have weak points NO CAR/TRUCK IS PERFECT out of the box. Yes there are ones that come damn close but all can be better.

So Hoody, I recommend you do a search on the Revo and savage forums here and see what you can find. I also would like to see more experienced opinions as well as others thoughts.

Good Luck on your quest!
Jon

Dude Revo is the best. I have never seen such a well engineered RC Truck. It is so easy to work on I can't believe it. If you want power upgrade the engine to the O.S. .18 TM and you will be set

i can't give a biased opinion casue i havent used the savage. what i can tell you is my buddy has a losi lst and he has spent more time watching me play with my revo than he has running his.he has never gone more than 15 minutes without breaking something and he hasnt even jumped it. My revo has been the best, a bit frustrating in the start but now it runs like a top with huge power. i blew a diff last week and have upgraded to lunsford pushrods. i made 1 diff out of 2 until my warranty parts got here and didnt have any troubles with running 2 wheel drive even. the truck will wheelie without a problem with the stock 2.5r when the tune is good.the wheels are good as long as you dont hit something or jump, mine are cracked badly but still work fine. wheels and pushrods are the only weakpoints in my eyes. never had a problem with shock ends and i was at the motocross track the other day, HUGE air!! Cudos to traxxas for the revo, its well above my standards

The revo is a small block and has plastic drive lines, Its said to be easier to work on and very fast. The savage is a big block has metal drive lines said to be harder to work on, but said to be very very durable so u pic. i have neither but am getting a savage4.6 kit in a month or 2. Hope you enjoy which ever one you choose.

jon2 , I think that is the best post I have seen on this subject in all of the sites I am a member of , quite a few . You know a savage owner is going to say savage and a revo owner is going to say revo ,THIS IS FACT .
I would recommend doing some homework , reading posts ,checking out manufacturers websites ,and such . Make the decision for yourself

Another thing to look at is what parts does your lhs carry parts for? Parts availability is pretty important as well. I have had several T-maxxes and a Savage SS, I still have 1 of each. I have not had a Revo, but after the maxx I am not really interested in another small block 1/10 scale Traxxas truck. However I love my Savage, and would highly recommend them to anyone.

find some people that have them and watch them run. one of my friends wants to get into rc and wants either a savage or revo, so i told him he can just try my revo, and my other friend has a savage that he will let him try. if it is possable for you to do this than this would be your best bet. another factor is the money. the revo in normally a bit more money than the savage, so you can most of the stuff you need for about the price you would pay for the revo. i love both cars, but i just like the light feel of the revo so thats what made up my mind.

Damn good point! Parts availability. Hey if you have one that carries all then you are lucky but like me and many others LHS don't carry what I want all the time. I either special order order online.

ALso the Traxxas Tmaxx IS a 1/10 scale truck. Traxxas needs to come up with a Big Block MT! Savage is still cool as is the REVO. Both fun to drive.
