RC Driving Style
After changing the spur gear we spent an hour at the track outside our LHS. My son was up in the stand for the 1st time and I was fetching. Damn....I think all those years on Burnout and Forza have paid off. He was drifting through corners and landing on all 4's off the jumps (most of the time). I think I lost 5 lbs running around. He's seriously considering giving up his N.E.T.R.A. racing for rc racing.
Can he get rich off this???..(lol)
 
Rich?? I'd like to think so for all of us racers' sakes. So far I have poured more money into racing than I did bashing! Steadily getting poorer.
It's a blast though. Keep him racing, you never know... I have had some younger kids drive my rigs and blow my lap times away. Young guys naturally seem to have more hand/eye co-ordination. Anyways that's my excuse.
 
I'd like to attribute all of my eye hand coordination to call of duty 4 and counter strike. Those really help haha. You never know, there are some folks at the upper echelons making money off it, but as long as he's having fun, why not. I've never bought any car to really race, it's just fun for me, the tc3 I might try that out though. Not to mention the kids will always have the faster eye hand coordination, they are younger things start to slip. I hate it haha.
 
If he gets good enough and attracts sponsers, he can certainly make a living at it.

My son picked up RC racing right away as well. I am positive it is from the hand eye coordination required while playing video games.

He recently turned 9 and just needs to work on maturity at the track and gain an understanding on how to enter and exit turns. Once this happens, he will be kicking my ass in modified class. I can't wait for this to happen.
 
Nitronewb, it's so good to hear how your son did. I've been trying to get you to take him to the track for a while now. If he gets involved in racing, he will have something that the two of you can enjoy for years to come. Also, you will be a lot less worried about him when he's in the hobby room at midnight on Friday night than if he was out partying at midnight on Friday night. A positive influence in a kids life such as the relationship that you guys have and racing together can make SUCH a difference in how they turn out. He might not make it racing, but he may end up going to Germany to be a Mercedes specialist all because he found out he was mechanically inclined wrenching on his RC, or he made build rockets and space shuttles for NASA. I don't see how this could do anything but help him in the future, even if it's just learning how to set up a budget to be able to keep racing when something happens.
