So last week I started having trouble with my throttle not working, I thought it was the battery going dead so I charged it and it worked fine for about 10 min. then did it again so I looked on here and thought it could be the optidrive, so I got rid of it and installed a FOC I went out and ran it for just a few and it worked so I thought it was fixed, today I ran it and the throttle and steering died in like 10 minutes again so I went and bought a new 5 cell flat pack thinking the battery was bad, I charged the new battery put it in and in 10 minutesit happened again, being new to RC I have NO idea what it could be.

Anybody have any ideas??

Thanks, Mike

dude i had the same problem with my revo it's the servo u gotta get a new one
when that happen i went down to the hobby store and got a high tech servoand replaced the two steering servo and put that in. Then i took the two servo's from steering, put one aside and one replacing the throttle. And if this one breaks u can just replace it with the one u put aside.
A lot of people do this, or so I've herd.

I'll be honest, it doesn't sound like it's the servos that are your problem. If it were the servos they wouldn't work for ten minutes then quite on you. The plastic gears, if they were bad, would begin to strip slowly then faster until they just spin without moving the arm anymore. Or the motor inside would burn out. I think since you say it works for a little while then it doesn't you should first try bypassing the opti-drive system if you've got one in your truck. I've had similar problems with my revo where the throttle would cut in and out randomly and it turned out to be a bad opti-drive module. Try bypassing it by going directly from the servo to the receiver rather than as it's set up stock, servo, to opti-drive, to receiver. It's worth a shot to see if that's it and if it is, you won't have to buy anything to fix it. Just junk the opti-drive. Hope this helps.

I already put in a FOC and got rid of the optidrive, as far as the serv's being bad, all 3 weaken and die at the same time, they aren't wired in parallel so it couldn't be a bad servo unless I am overlooking something.

Mike, have you broken your antenna wire at all? Does the problem seem to happen or get worse the farther away the rig gets? Just wondering if it might be a TX or RX problem. If all 3 servos are acting up, the only thing in common are those 2 things and the battery (which you already replaced).

Everytime it happens it has been a good 20 feet or so away but once it does it it doesn't make a difference if I hold the radio to the wire, I got rid of the "smoke stack" BTW lol, one roll and it was shredded

Did it break off any of the antenna? With my limited knowledge of the TX/RX it really sounds like something isn't working right between them or maybe there is a short that is draining the battery really fast.

I lost a short piece of my antenna when I decided to test the Revo's ability to slide down a gravel driveway on it's lid.
And yes, I did mean to do that, it was a very scientific, well controlled and documented test. :D

I tested both the new and the old batteries after I thought they were dead and they were still full, the antenna didn't break or come off anywhere outside of the RX, I put a standard antenna tube on it, when I first start it up i can drive as far as I can see down my street and it was coming back fine, mabye there is a bad connection in the RX if that's possible?

just a heads up on new batt you got to charge it about 6 times full charge to total empty after that it will last about 45min

my revo batt went dead after a tone of use and traxxas said when you get a new batt you got to charge it like twice first time and charge it 6 times after that and it will last longer i got 5min on mine then it turned to 10 to 20 to 30 now its like45min
