Got a question for you guys. It seems i cannot keep the spindles from loosening up on the CV shafts on my revo.:angry: I used blue Loctite gel and tightened the snot out of the screws and let it sit for almost 2 days before taking it out. A 15 minute bash and they were loose again. It give the truck really bad "death Wobble" in the front when its at top speed. Any other way to eliminate this problem?
 
ok there is a screw that goes through the axle shaft at the end near the wheel. This is what holds the spindle which the wheel bolts too. The bolt is long but only threaded at the top near the head. These are the bolts that keep loosening up on me. I loctited them and a 15 minute bash and they were loose again.
 
i dont think you guys are understanding what i am talking about. I just stripped the truck down and there is nothing wrong with any of the parts. I found the problem though. I didnt clean the threads of the screws enough. when i took the screws out the loctite was still wet. So i cleaned the snot out of everything and re loctited it all. We will find out tomorrow afternoon if she holds.

I've went through a gallon in 1 week. Is that too much?
 
Well i cleaned her up a bit today at work. Brought it home and went to start it and the OWB was acting up. Took forever to start but finally started. Ran a tank through. Filled it back up and the OWB worked fine. Today i was hitting my jump pretty good. About 3 foot high and maybe 7 or 8 foot out. I really need some stiffer suspension though.
I've heard that running the LT rockers are actually worse for jumping due to the fact they put the rockers in a location that they wont effectively dampen the load.

I wanna get it pretty stiff so it can soak up the jumps. I want to lower it and get it stiffer. Right now i have the rear on the inner ride height hole and the front in the middle hole. But i would like to be able to get it in the lower holes and tighten it up. Can i do something like this and still jump it?
 
o and i took the screws out of the hubs today. wire brushed them real good. Put a crap load of loctite on them and after 1 tank today they were loose again. Its getting aggravating having my wheels wobble all the time.
 
Jumping your Revo with the ride height at the lowest setting? Maybe try increasing shock oil wt. and changing pistons to smaller/fewer holes. And P1 rockers. It might want to roll over easier when cornering, but maybe the lowest ride height setting will help it enough.
Also, are you having the wheel wobble all the time, or only after your screws loosen?

Bubba please don't offer anymore advice until you show me swing arms on the Revo.

Have you tried putting a lock washer or even getting new nylon lock nuts to see if that helps. You can try to lower it and stiffen suspension but you are going to find you have a even worse problem. With stiffer suspension the truck becomes very hard to control in rough terrain the front and rear hop with every bounce. For off road and jumping I use the center holes. when I throw my road rages on and hit the pavement I drop it all the way down.
 
well here is what i can find real fast. The screws hold these onto the end of the CV shaft

do the holes go all the way thru, if so you could try using a pin. I would believe that the hex on the wheel would stop the screw from coming out. Are you certain you have the wheel all the way on. I had a set of rims that took quite a bit of effort to get to seat on the hex, when I went to remove them the hex was stuck in the wheel. I had to pop it back out.
 
you may be using to much locktight. it only takes a little. are both sides of those hubs threaded, or one end threaded and one just a hole? my 17mm adaptors went on simular, but i never had them loosen up..
 
yes the wheels are all the way on. I know the pins cannot come out as long as the wheel is on. My problem is they are always loosening up on me and they cause the wheels to wobble. It allows the Threaded hub to wobble on the end of the CV shaft. Eventually this will wear out the pins and also oblong the holes in the CV shaft which is why i am trying to stop the problem.

Traxxas loctites them from the factory and they used very very little loctite and that obviously didnt hold. So I've tried twice with different amounts of loctite but they still loosen up.
 
i can't see the second pic but i know what your taliking about. its a pin, with a threaded head on it. has an alan head to tighten it up. the grubs on my axial keep loosening up. (same idea except without the pin part) be sure to clean all the gunk out of the threads and i had to resort to red locktight to get them to hold

are both holes in the hubs threaded or just one?

I've also seen some where you put just a pin in, and there is a set screw you insert into the end of the hub that threads into the end of the cvd and holds the pin in place. is the end of your cvd shaft threaded where you could put a grub screw on it?

Thats about the only way i know to stop them from loosening up also. I have the truck at work and when its closing time I'm going to repull them out and wire brush them. Take some brake cleaner to them and get them very very clean. Then i will loctite them with the red loctite.
 
check the ends of the axles. they may have a threaded socket to put a grub in to hold the pin as well.
