Hey, I just bought a slightly used Revo, (less then a gal of fuel and driven on grass only) and I'm having some problems. I'm using Top-Fuel 20% and have tried 3 different plugs. It will start and get warmed up I have been trying to tune it and think I have it pretty close, good responce and light smoke comming from the tail pipe. After it runs for a few minutes it seems to get real hot, the head has started to smoke and it dies. After it cools down it will do the same thing again. This is my first nitro rig and I sure could use some help. When the motor is cool it seems to have good compression ie.. I can barley turn it over with my finger. Thanks in advance...

My guess is that you have an air leak. Take the engine out take the car and back plate off and use some high temp rtv sealant(any automotive parts store should have this) and seal it up. It doesn't take much just around the base of the carb, and the base of the back plate. And get some new fuel line. Try that and let me know how it goes.

My revo did the same thing, I just richened the hell out of it and tuned the idle as low as possible.

Turn the main needle counter clockwise 1/8th of a turn and see what happens. It sounds like its to lean.

If your new to nitro, the engines aren't designed to rum wide open for more then a few seconds at a time. If your running wide open up and down the street, that could be the issue as well.

Fuel Tank O-Ring, the one under the cap. Very common on the Revo, it ended my day two weeks ago. Did the same thing. Unfortunately you have to buy the whole frickin rebuild kit and not just the o-ring. I'm working on going through packages of o-rings to try and find one that works.

i have a revo, my friend has a revo and my other friend has a jato, and we have all came to the same conclussion which is TRAXXAS TOP FUEL SUCKS!!

as soon as we changed to BLUE THUNDER our cars ran cooler and did not die on us.
