What to hear what you revo people think. I am new to Nitros and want a truck to drive my yard hit some small jumps and chase down the neighbors cats. I am stuck right in between on which to buy and was hopeing you guys could help me out.

What would you buy right now if you had the money and just wanted to speed around offraod crash into some stuff hit some jumps and just have some fun. I doubt i would ever race, but i wouldn't mind owning a fast truck. Which engine will last longer and which body will hold up to an fairly inexperienced driver?

The revo has atleast 10mph on a savage 25 stock for stock....will it even be noticable just screwing around? I have enough yard to get it up to speed. Does the lil revo engine have enough torque to go speeding through grass without gettign bogged down?

I don't want to be fixing my Truck every other day so i want something reliable and strong.

Why should i buy a revo over the savage?....yes i have done many searches

i just got a revo a few days ago and love it. i took it out today and had some pretty hard crashes on frozen ground and everything held up great. i say so far it is a pretty tough truck. but my buddy has a savage and i am almost positive that thing would take way more of a beating than my revo. the savage is a real mt. but if we were to race of have a jumping contest the revo would win hands down. the revo is lighter and handles a bit better. if we both go into a turn at the same speed, the savage will tip a lot easier. but that is just cause the size. they both have great suspension and you'll be happy with which ever one you choose.

I love my REVO. I took it out in the snow today and it was awsome! Big jumps and didnt break a thing.

i asked the same question like two weeks ago. Savage SS or Revo. i decided on revo because of its speed, handling, and the fact that its new and hot, so mods are going to be coming fast to modify it just like you currently can with a savage. personally, i liked the look of the revo and the speed it can do. rcdriver magazine as tested speed of 41.4mph. that being said, there are some documented problems with revo, one way bearing, diff failures (currently why towerhobbies is backordered) as well as minor issues many rc trucks have. so think of where your going to run it, does the speed and handling of the revo matter? or would the $$$ difference in trucks be better spent modding a savage for big jumps/bashing? found a revo for $405 plus shipping from rcboyz.com (discount code DRIVERDEC) and i believe the savage is $339 (with discount) from towerhobbies and that only has $8 shipping.

just an impartial view since i'm still waiting for my revo to arrive. If your going to be jumping the revo lots, you may want to look into heavier shock oil (comes with 30wt, many recommend 50-60wt, P2 rockers and stiffer springs (again many recommend stiffer, i went with gold and orange).
for revo info, here is a great board http://monster.traxxas.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=55

for savage info, this board is great, just go to savage section.

also don't forget the needed accessories:

Revo:
7.2V battery and charger - ez start
8xaa batteries - radio controller
fuel bottle and 20% fuel
after run oil
spare glow plugs (you'll likely use 1 in break-in period)

Savage:
7.2V battery and charger - roto start
glow plug ignitor
8xaa batteries - radio controller
4xaa or 5 cell battery pack - receiver
after run oil
spare glow plugs
fuel and fuel bottle 20%

and for both, get a $25 temp guage, revo must be around 220-250 degree's or not over 270ish.
