Good grief, I thought it would be cool to buy a new trans and hook up the opti drive like it was manufactured but right off the bat, I have a red light and can't figure it out. Looks to me like I'm putting my FOC trans back in a forget it. What do you guys think? I don't even see a place to mount a servo to switch the trans. Maybe I'm confused about this setup. If there is no servo is this a production forward only model?
 
Don't mess with the opti-drive. It is junk. Stick with the FOC and never worry again. The platinums come with a FOC right out of the box.
 
The platinum has a center diff, but is also a forward only. The only good thing about the opti-crap is that it provides a low battery failsafe.
 
Well, I took it out and went back to what I had. I don't need to back up anyway. I just want to goooooooooooo! Thanks for the info.
 
mrbones- you can still use the trans just leave the opti drive unhooked. Only problem is you have to come to a complete stop using your brake shift in reverse, stop shift into go ahead and all is ok. BE SURE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE SHIFTING OR YOU WILL LOOSE A GEAR IN TRANS. I got tired of fooling with the opti and all of mine is unhooked. Knock on wood I have not lost a trans due to not stopping yet. Be sure to change wireing back like it was.

If this unit did come FOC you are gonna need more than the Opti, servo mounts in front of throttle box whitch means you will have to get a different box that will except both throttle an shifter servos, also a shifting rod from servo to shifter. maybe you are rite go back to FOC or speend more money
