ok thanks revo rancher, i have now ordered one.

I'm a bit sick of the trx 2.5 due to it constantly over heating when i get anywhere near decent performance?

couldent they just but the revo engine in the maxx out of the box?

thanks

The first thing I did when I bought my wife's T-Maxx I plopped the Powertune head on the mill before I even broke it in (I had broken in T-Maxx mills in the past) because I already knew it was going to be a PITA. Never have had a problem since. Some may point out that there are aftermarket heads that are cheaper and cool even more, but in my case I did not want to change the head size and the Powertune head fits where the original one went. I also believe that the TRX 2.5r mill does not need radical amounts of cooling, just a little more. It seems to like to run on the hot side.

thats what i thought.

the revo head isnt gonna damage your wallet to much either.

i ordered a blue tuned pipe aswell, will this give a noticable performance boost?

so should i not be too worried if my temps stray from the 230 mark?

The pipe is a good upgrade. Wife's is still using the stock pipe but everyone I know that upgraded to the Traxxas blue pipe remarked it worked.

Temps from 230-270 are normal, but avoid continuous readings near 270.

it seems to like running at around 240 250.

at the moment i can't get the tune right(as posted in my other thread) which is causing a bit of a headache. this is the main reason for me buying the powertune head because i couldent lean it out much.

it does have some go if i run it on 25%.( i think it was a bad move changing to 20%:opps: )

if i sorted out this over heating problem i may be able to enjoy the truck more, cos all i do at the moment is tuning.

another thing....

has any tried putting a hyper 21 in the tmaxx?

hi

I've just put the revo head on my maxx and it makes a great difference.

temps that were around 250 are now down at 210, and there seems to be a performance boost.(bit more mid range).

now if i could only get it to idle properly.

I've got it set on the carb right, but, it idles for about 10secs then it starts to die.(I've done the pinch test and it dies after 3 secs) i can't tell if I'm too lean or too rich on the low end needle.(when i bring it in after a high speed run, the revs drop and stay normal for the time mentioned and then it dies)

any help greatly appreatiated.

If I were to venture a guess, it sounds like it may be a tad lean on the LSN if it dies after a good run. May try turning it a click clockwise and see what it does.

ok thanks for the help, will give it a try tomorrow.

hang on, turn the lsn needle clcokwise richens it!?!?!

would it be best to just keep richening the lsn till it idles after a run? (in 1/16th turns of course)

also would it be a good idea to get a better air filter to compliment the tuned pipe?

thanks Alex

No, you're right, my apologies! Counter-clockwise! Wow, talk about a brain fart!

The pinch test should be around 5 seconds, that's why I'm suggesting a slightly richer setting on the LSN. That's pretty much how I know I have it dialed in.

i thought that it should be 3 secs?(looks like its infectious:) )

ill try tune it to that tomorrow.

no wonder it was bloody quick off the line:whip:

is it worth getting an air filter, can you reccomend any?

thanks (wow just realised I've done 50 posts)
