Well Gang, I've run in my Revo using the standard procedure.
All went well with run in no majopr issues or problems with that.
After run in i took my revo out for a run to attempt to tune the engine,
After about 15 mins razzing around a bit I found myself struggling a little to find the optimimun point for the high needle setting. Any tips on knowing when it's running at it's best ??
Then disaster, the car ran off slightly to the left and was heading for a wall so hit the brakes and the car flipped, the toe in/out bar on the front right hand side broke, sheared at the thread at the wheel end, punctured the tire slightly... gutted.. so next day off to my LHS to buy replacement, hoped to buy the hop'd up toe in/out bar but he was out of stock so had to settle for the standard version.. fitted with no problems, whilst at it added a touch of toe out to try to give me some more stability under braking...
So ok fixed and ready for next run, this time we decided it was time for a raz around on some grass, so local golf course was the chosen venue, got the car started and proceded to rip around the grass, oh no disaster again... Ran it through a pile of leaves, underneath the pile of leaves was a huge chunk of wood (basically a 6 foot log), crunch, dead stop and a sickening thud..
Major damage had occured, i felt sick... after taking it back to the mobile garage ie: the boot of my car for inspection I found i had damged the front bulk head on the right hand side part no.5330 along with a broken pin part no. 5321 (the long one that goes through the top of the top arm and the push rod on the right hand side Part no. 5318 .. I uprated the push rod to the red trx 7075- t6 and the rest of the parts were only available ib standard....
What a mission to fix, never having taken anything like this apart before i was a little daunted but took my time and managed to get the whole of the front end apart without too much hassle, had a major nightmare with the replacement bulk head as couldn't work out how i could fit it in with the steering servo saver underneath the car... the replacement part had two peices of extra plastic which were in the way of the servo saver... i took me around an hour to figure out that these peices had to be removed before fitting.. WHy are they there?? seems a bit misleading to leave parts on peices when they are not required... Only looking at the exploded veiws helped me to work out what was wrong... So after a good three nearly four hours i managed to get everything back in place and reconstructed...
I now know how to take the whole of the front end apart and put it back together, quite enjoyable actually.. I think half the fun of this new hobbie is the tinkering and repairing when things are not wrong or get damaged..
Now I do have a few issues/questions..
1: Is it ok to refill the tank whilst the truck is still runnning...
2: What's the best way to get more stability ? (getting a fair few rolls both on grass and concrete)
3: How do i know when i've got the high speed needle in the right place ??
Oh one more thing.. Last night on doing my after-run procedure I made a little bit of a schoolboy error... I put a couple of drops of air filter oil down the engine hole instead of after run oil.. I added 6 or 7 drops of after run oil after i had realised my mistake... Is this likely to do any damage to my engine...
Think that's it for now, needless to say I am enjoying myself if not with a few headaches but that's all part of the fun as far a i can see..
Hope you can help me out with my questions
Cheers guys
