RC Driving Style
I do not have a revo yet but I'm thinking of getting one. Couple of questions the engine says 2.5 is that actually the .15 engine? Also is this a good truck what are its weak points.?
 
the revo is a great truck. i think the only weak point is the stock tires.

Is it under powerd with that engine? That truck be faster/quicker then a savage 25?
 
If it is slower tahn the Savage, it wont be by much, and it dfinately will out manuever the Savage, I know, as I own two Revo's and just bought a Savage. I'll finnish breaking in the Savage tomorrow, then I'll race the Revo, I'll let you know which is faster.
Even though the Revo is a Small Block, it hauls butt! Though the saying is true, "You can never have too much power"!.
I've been thrashing my two since Christmas, with a Savage and an LST. The Revo's have held up exceedingly well, that's from first hand experiance!
Only week points that I'm aware of are the stock wheels and nylon wheel nuts, cheesey! I have had problems just today with my tranny, but Traxxas sent out the part right away. Seems the Opti shift glitched and messed up reverse. It's not "supposed to be able to shift into reverse unless fully stopped", but mine did!
 
I highly recomend the REVO, The motor has plenty of power. A few weak points are the rims, and the shock ends, but overall is a very durable truck.

thats pretty much right no the money. rims bend or crack easily, shock rod ends break and differentials have a problem too. that said, the differentials and shock ends are a problem traxxas is aware of and has supposedly fixed, so customer service does send out replacements no problem. other then that it is very durable and depending on your driving, other parts you may want to have are pushrods and a-arms, but check ebay for revo parts....they are cheap as people part out new in box revo's for profit on ebay.
 
My rims are fine, along with my tires and I have BEAT the poop out of my truck. I have heard of rims cracking on ANY vehicle that gets the poop jumped out of it. The truck is faster and more nimble than the best Savage out (stock form to stock form). The problem I have had with the rims is the chorme flakes off a little too easily in my mind. Other than that I haven't broke poop and believe you me I have tried!

The shock ends have been updated and replaced. If you get one from the first batch just call Traxxas (I did) and it took 5 days to get my new ends.

So if i buy a new revo from my lhs, they should be the updated ones without the defects?
 
HB is right on. I've beat the hell out of mine too and the wheels have held up just fine. Except for the chrome flaking off. I ran against a savage one day, just me and him on the track. Granted I'm no Slayden nor could I come close but I smoked the Savage on track. I was leary on the power originally but after running the truck I have no concerns, it's pretty quick. I just got my FOC and will be putting that on when I get home from this road trip. Order your rod ends from RD Racing, they are the best IMO and pretty reasonable (16.95?). Also look on eBay for auctions by TuffTrux (I think that's their id) for some shock socks. I got some from them, have to say, they're pretty tough.
