I was playing with the best truck Traxxas has ever made and the truck was running great but as the old saying goes all good things must come to an end. The truck sounded like it had roasted both diffs and would move forward, but I threw it in reverse and it was perfect until I pulled it up to my leg and hit it full throttle reverse in which the same thing happened now in reverse. Can the diff be fried in one direction and not in the other until you put it under extreme stress??? I wasn't sure. However I called Traxxas and asked them, but the guy told me to find out what parts were broken call back with the serial number and they would send out the parts. I am not sure if this is the diff or not. I took the tranny apart, but it was fine. So the only other drive part is the diff so am I right??? Thanks for any input!!!

Does it make clicking noises? That's usually the sign of a diff gone bad. There's also the possibility that a bearing has gone bad, and spinning it will tend to eat into the diff housing causing the ring and pinion to lose their tight mesh. You won't know till you open it up.

It is mor of a "slop" sound it still goes forward and reverse just not very good. My biggest question I guess is can the teeth on a diff get knocked off in one direction and still be good in the other direction?

they can be sort of worn in one direction and give you a little more use in the opposite direction.....I swapped my T-maxx diffs from FR-RR whenever I did a rebuild....ensuring the ring gear gets worn evenly.....but if it's already "marker tipped" the teeth then it's not worth it flopping them around...you may get another couple of tanks before that direction goes to crap......and for all the work just get another set.....I know Traxxas is warrantying (spelling?) diffs from the earlier revos.....so they are probably just doing it for anyone who calls in w/ a diff problem to save time w/ the Customer Service center.......

I think my diffs went bad it makes a clickling noise when rolled, and it will drive intill you swich to reverse then it wont even drive. Is it the diff or transmission thats gone bad.
