i just got my revo 3.3 two days ago and i ran a 1/2 tank in it following what traxxas says to do for the break in and then it snowed and do you have to follow exactly what traxxas saysfor the break in? ps: I'm new to the nitro stuff and I'm running backyard bashers fuel...:)

I'd try to follow the breakin procedure as close as possible & watch your temps. A heat pointer for $25 maker a good investment too, since I never cared to watch water evaporate...

good luck, watch your glowplug, keep your airfiler clean & have fun.

Revome is right on, If I were you, I would probably go ahead and start over with step one. The worst thing you can do is hurry!!!!!! I waited almost 1 month before I broke mine in...It was 45 degrees when I finally did. I did not want to have to worry about another variable....ie temperature. If you insist on breaking it in when its 40deg or below, wrap the head in a sock or paper...I used aluminum foil and had pretty solid results...To second revome yet again, Get yourself a temp guage of some sort....especially if you use foil, foil will not allow as much heat to escape due to it's insulating qualities...
Also, consider running the first step with the body on...I know they say not to...but you need to contain as much warmth as possible if temps are cold...

Now being as you are in Virginia, everything I typed, might be worthless... :)
If you don't need any of that info...Get yourself a temp gun, and follow the steps as close as you can, from STEP ONE!!!!

Best of Luck to you!!!!!!!!

very good advice, thanks to both of you, i followed the procedures until it started snowing that day. i havent been able to take it out since but its supposed to be in the low 50's this week so i might break it in some more later on. i think i'll try the foil and then wrap it with a paper towel. thanks again. :)

Just to clarify, you probably should not use both!!!!! At least not at the same time. If temps are in the 50's you may not even have to worry about wrapping the head at all...Use the temp gun frequently if you do end up wrapping the head....If it starts to run hot, fold down the foil, sock, or papertowel to expose a little bit of the cooling head at a time to regulate the temp....Good Luck

You can also use the innertube from a bicycle tire. I bought an innertube for a small bike (like $3.00) and cut off a piece to wrap around the head. Just use a zip-tie to hold it on. Works great!
