my car is iddled right down but still takes off when started

Take your air filter tube off and see if the carb is closing all the way when not off the throttle. Check the linkage to the servo and be sure that it has not come loose etc. Also when the filter is off run the idle screw in and out and see if it changes inside the carb at all. I had the same issue as you and the carb and linkage ended up being messed up. g/l

By takes off do you mean that it revs high or that the wheels turn and it moves?

100% of the time when that happens to me its my clutch spring that has snapped.. good luck

had the same problem with my slayer a shoe was broke and the spring snapped

If the tires turn as you start your rig, the clutch spring is broken.
