Ok i have searched and searched on here and i can not find anyhing about my problem. I have a tuning problem that i can't figure out. i have a revo 3.3 i bought it used. i tuned it according to the manual and the thread in here. and it is still puzzling me.

It's does not have good throttle response. it like lugs then seems like it clears up. and takes off. (no wheelies). i get the front end up by tuning a lil better. but no real stand ups. i have adjusted it till i wore out my screwdriver. then when i think i am close i will run it to clear out the carb. as soon as i let off of the fuel it dies. no warning just dies.

Does anyone else have this problem or is it cause i suck at tuning.

I never was real good with tuning.

I am sorry f i missed thepost this was in if there is one.

Thanks Joe

boggy start is normally rich lsn. Have you tried going back to stock settings and working from there. Whenever you have issues tuning its best to start fresh otherwise you are chasing our tail.

I have went back to stock settings a few times. seems like the LSN likes to be around stock to start. then as i lean out the HSN the high speed is increased but it boggs (when you hit the trottle not during the pass). Then i lean out the LSN and it does the bogg and runs good for a pass or 2 and then it shuts down after i let off the throttle. I adjusted the idle to a good setting so that the brakes have no effect. I really don't think it is over heating it has no signs of it. And then i start over again. I am really tired of chasing my tail :\ . As for temp i havn't really used one before. By the way guys thank you so much for responding.

What i think i am afraid of is leaning it to much and popping the engine. It seems to me that the 2.5s were a lil ezier to tune than the 3.3. like they are really picky. and i can't find a sweet spot.

One last detail i forgot to state is that when you let off of the thottle it revs up for a sec and then comes back down to normal

Ok here is a small update. I went out and bought a temp gauge. What are some good temps to tune? And what is to hot and what is safe?

Thanks again :)

Thanks ... I just took it out for a few (you know to try out the temp gauge.)

i tried a new glow plug and leaned out the LSN but nothing. still boggs and then clears the longer you hold the throttle.

The temp ( i take it every time it stalls) average 233 but it did get up to 270
so i richened it up a lil just in case it ran ok still bogged and shut down.

(Can you see all of my hair on the floor) lmao

How many tanks have gone thru this engine?
Second are you sure the brakes aren't dragging?
Third any binding anywhere?

I am not sure how many tanks that were run thru. i got this used about 2 weeks ago. i have run 3 or 4 thru it trying to tune it. he said that he only ran about 1/2 gallon (but you know what people will say to sell. ) everything looks new enough to me. (like he took care of it )

ok i just checked my links and brakes.

the brakes are ok. the slipper is ok. but i did find out why it revs after i stop full throttle. i hit my throttle with engine off and air filter off. and when i let go of the trigger the slide bounced back instead of staying at idle.

i switched it to 70/30 and it stopped that.

(it still boggs and shuts down grrrrr.)

i do want to thank you for helping me trouble shoot. it always help to have help:D

pinch? do you mean pinch test? it runs for 3 to 4 seconds and then shuts off no high idle.

no, he means the compression for your engine.

does traxxas recommend 2 second lsn shut off? I can't remember. Still not a bad idea though to check compression and condition of the engine interior, piston, sleeve etc.

Was talking to him on yahoo and it seems the mill is gone. His buddies 2.5 has more pinch then his 3.3 does. I pointed him in the direction of the Traxxas ERP new 3.3 for $115.

Thanks grudge. I just woke up got my e-mail and was going to answer him. but you beat me to it.:p:

Traxxas recommends 3 seconds for LSN.

Nice. Enjoy the new engine.
I haven't tried the ERP, but it seems like a really good deal. I will be trying it out when my 3.3 takes the dirt nap.
