I just picked up the new reverse gear for my revo 3.3 along with some lithium all purpose grease from the auto store. My question is...

Can I use that grease on the gear? The packaging says to buy wheel bearing grease and use a lite amount for lubrication.

the grease packaging says for use on wheel bearings.

*** i am just unsure because its lithium grease. *****

You should be ok with lithium, but tamiya gear grease would be better.

That said, i was under the impression that any form of grease or oil was a no no in the transmission with the exception of maintaining the bearings.

If I am wrong on that fact, then feel free to correct me.

Small amounts of good sticky grease is a good thing. You just don't want so much lube that it gets into the one way bearings. I only use a small dab on first gear and that's it.
