My new revo 3.3 5309 is not shifting unless i give it a little gas until it shifts and then i try to nail it and the rpm's just jump up and the car isnt topping out. if i try to get a good launch and nail it to do a wheelie the rpms just go really high and it sounds like poop!!! I'm still sort of nw and i dont know where the slipper clutch is so please help me with tht so i can adjust it to see if its that but i never messed with the little hole in the tranny to change the time of the gear change as i dont know how to yet!!! Gosh its annoying and its making my car jump to 300 F in about 2 mins because the rpm's just go up and up till they top out but the car isnt going full speed yet???? I think its the slipper but the truck is about 3 weeks old and i already have like at least 20-25 tanks on it!!! I love it sooo muucchh!!!!! LOL:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:\:\:\:p::p::p::p:

I am new to this also, I just bought a used Revo and had a problem with it not shifting. At first I thought it was the slipper, but after a few adjustments it did not make a difference.

After some quick investigating I noticed the carb was not opening all the way. At first I thought the servo was bad/weak or there was an issue with the linkage.

I didn't see an obvious problem, the next thought about the on-board battery pack. I switched that out and it opened the carb all the way right away, I started it and it was shifting!!!

Problem solved!!! At least for me anyway.

The slipper clutch adjustment is on the large gear that is driven by the small gear connected directly to the engine.

Good Luck

I have an older 5309 and I had to adjust my shift point a bit to get it to shift on dirt. It was great on pavement and high traction areas....but when the wheels were not getting enough traction it would just rev to the moon. There is a rubber cover on your tranny that gives you access to the shift point adjustment screw. Play with it a little bit. If I remember correctly, tightening the screw will make it shift sooner....loosening will make it shift later. So I think mine loosened up or something because one day I took it out and it no longer shifted properly. A few twists on the screw and she was good as new again.

Loosen to shift sooner, tighten to shift later Motogod...........

According to item 6 on page 38 of the (5310 model) Revo manual:

"Turn the screw 1/8 turn counter clockwise to lower the shift point (shifts sooner). Be careful not to loosen the screw too much or you may cause the screw and spring to fall out (requiring major disassembly and repair). Turn the adjustment screw clockwise for later shifts.

Basically put, tightening the screw clockwise puts more compression on the spring making it harder for the primary clutch to open, or to put it differently, the added compression on the spring stops the clutch engaging as easily.

I had a 50/50 shot of getting it right ;-) My Revo has been on a shelf for months now....so hey. lol

I'm gonna try what nx338 said and maybe my battery is going dead and not pulling the carb all the way open, but for now, i have homework!! Thanx 8th grade!!!!

think i just overheated the slipper and had it too tight...i'll see this weekend...i just ordered a mini-brushless Revo...gonna see how that sucker is!

yea soon me and my dad are gonna get a mini revo and mini slash to race at our local indoor track!!!

cool cool....i just couldn't resist one anymore...my father in law got a 1/18th associated and it is a lot of fun..but i need something a tad bigger i can tear him a new one with - a Mini-revo with the 2 packs in series will be a hella lot of fun :)

yeah i know..somehow that doesn't seem wise :) an i don't want to think my Nitro Revo is slow after i get this thing going...now if i can get it out of 2nd gear :(

worse case i have a spare tranny....just didn't want to have to swtich it out...i'll mess with it this weekend..wierd though....
