New to the forums, but here is my problem, just bought a new revo 3.3 5309 model couple days ago, did the proper break in procedure yesterday, today when i was running the 6th tank to start to tune it, i noticed that it wasn't shifting into 2nd gear, so i leaned it out a little thinking that might be the problem, (read it in the manual somewhere to lean it out) eventually it started barley moving, now the engine revs high but the truck barley moves, i switch it to reverse and it barely moves also... do you guys think it might be the slipper clutch? i didn't get a chance to tighten it and try it because it got to late. another thing i might have done wrong is, i might have adjusted the break linkage adjustment too much during the break in process because i was on a small street and needed the truck to stop faster while doing the 5th tank break in... any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Back off the brake untill the adjuster is -just- touching the spring.
Tighten the slipper until you can only just turn it by hand with an allen key through the hole in the other end of the shaft to hold it.
Take the needles back to factory settings - flush on the low speed, 4 turns out on the high speed (go 4.5 to be safe).
Now take it out again, leave the low speed alone for now & lean the high speed off 1/8 of a turn at a time with a couple of runs between adjustments until you are not seeing any performance improvement, then richen it up 1/8 turn from there.
If it's bogging a little on take off lean off the low speed 1/8 turn at a time untill it pulls clean from idle.
If it's not bogging richen it up until it does (just to make sure you're not too lean on the low speed), then lean it off until the bog stops.

That should get you going again.

once you have double checked your slipper, brake, tune. there is a small hole in the top of the gear box you can adjust the shift point. also have you changed glow plug?

slipper should be tight so that u can just move it by hand (put something in the whole on the other side of the shaft so it can't turn and try turn the slipper)

the brake should just have tension on the spring. if its not braking enough then u can tighten the pads 1/4 turn or so to get the pads closer to the disc. just make sure that the pads arent hard on the disc when not braking.

i think you should go back to the factory settings for the tune. richen it right up nearly a turn (1/8 turn at a time) once u notice its way rich then lean it out. lean it till it stops gaining performance and once you have got the best performance and it starts reducing u need to richen it up 1/8 turn or there abouts. also keen an eye on temps. you dont want temps getting over 280-300 max. i think 250-280 is highest ud wanna run. 250 is ideal i think. i run mine around 100-120degrees C here in australia and it runs hard ;D

lol as above too, just put all that info together and ull be right :P

thanks guys! i couldn't sleep so i was looking at it, and i noticed the slipper clutch is actually missing a pad... so ill be taking a trip to the hobby shop tomorrow! any ideas as to why the pad would come off? slipper clutch came loose? and thanks for the tuning advice! I already backed the break off to were it just barely touches, so once i get the clutch put back together ill be tuning it again!

yeh one of my pads flew off, i think it was just loose. or broken pad. but i havent lost a pad for months and have a spare set in my pack for backup.
