i know there are lot of other people out there that have the wasp .26 but i jsut now got mine...and heres what i think of the mill.

as always i RTV sealed the back plate and carb neck/pinch bolt and inspected the internals for metal shavings and what not before firing it up. to anyone thinking of getting the picco .26 make sure you at least check the back plate bolts for tightness, with my mill the bolts were not very tight at all.

break in was easy. was kind of hard to start the first time, had to loosen the glow plug a bit so i could get a good yank on the cord. BTW i had an extra HPI pull-start from an S-25 laying around so i threw that on instead of using the stock wasp starter. have heard the stock starter breaks easy and i know hpi pull starts are very strong. stock needle settings were right on for break-in, i only had to lean it out a bit to get it up to good heat cycle temps.

i have read that the picco .26's were hard to tune. i was able to run a quart today and tuning was super easy, for the high and low end needles. my mill came with the silver LSN installed and also came with a black LSN, i ran it with the silver needle. it stayed at 230 degrees the whole time. this is all on 30% nitro and an OS A-5 glow plug.

power was awesome. after i got the LSN needle to were i felt it was right, the low end power was violent. 1/4 -1/3 throttle was all that was needed and the front wheels were hanging in the air. WOT at 1st gear speeds immediatly meant the truck was tossed into the air like a ragdoll. top speed wasn't alot different than the mills I've ran in the savage..but t got there really fast.
BTW my last mill was an xtm 24.7, and while the picco does have more power, some may not think it is enough a diffrence in power to warrent the 40$ price difference. (xtm 24.7 - 129$, picco .26 - 179$) with that said..i still think the power this mill has is worth the 180$ price tag.

Is this a review for the wasp or picco .26? You knind confused me here!?

its the wasp, but its all the same..picco .26, wasp .26, werks .26....same deal all around.

pullstarter--> picco, wasp..

Hi. I've just bought a picco .26 and its finally broken in (i have a savage, its my first truck) and I've broken the 2 that i've put on there. First, i brokie the one that came with the picco. So, after i bolted my s-25 pullstarter on the picco, i broke it today, on my first pull.
So do you why they break? Or is is just a quality problem?
And if it is, wich pullstarter will be stronger, and will at least hold up?
Thanks alot

I've used the same HPI S-25 pull starter for an xtm 24.7 and then moved it over to my wasp .26, and have not had any problems what so ever with it. are you maybe pulling out too far during starting? i do quick short pulls no more 8" out each time when starting.
i feel as though the hpi pull starter is one of the best I've used, in terms of quality/strength, the only pull starter I've had that is stronger than the hpi is probably the OS .21 RG pullstart, but it will not fit a picco/wasp.

the title of the thread is REview of my WASP .26
just wondering where you got confused?
buddy you need to pay attetion!!!...lol...j.k

i don't pull further than 8" either, so i don't know what the problem could be.
Right before an engine fires, the pullstarter get's slightly harder to pull, but it won't be TO hard. And that's the only resitance i got from the pullstarter.

I'm not positive but going on memory while having either of them out it -looked- like the carb neck on the xtm was smaller than the neck on the wasp 26 carb. i do know that the bore of the wasp carb is easily 1mm larger. are you wondering if it will fit becuase for me all xtm carbs seem to tune/hold tune great?

I was just curious, cause the carb on my Werks P3 .26 has some issues on the High end needle. It's just not running right at all...

Congats on the new Wasp alkyula. I have had two of the Ofna Outlaw 26 version. Both in ext T Maxxes and both were insanely quick.

I've had 2 Wasp .26 engines over the last year and I can tell you the venturi openning is larger on the Wasp than the XTM. Don't switch out the carb unless you want less power. Smaller openning = more restriction = less air flow = less power. Other issue is the XTM carb is aluminum vs the Wasp is composite which reduces heatsink effect keeping the fuel charge cooler and more dense = more power. I ran a side by side comparison with carb restrictor sizes on the Wasp the stock 8mm vs a bored to 9mm. The bored to 9mm version gave more power. I see the new Wasp engines come with 2 low speed needles. The black squared off one makes more power but the silver pointy one makes tunning easier. Some owners want to tame the power of the engine so they run a smaller restrictor. If you are in this category ignore what I wrote. Hell, I want an engine to make as much power as possible.
