how well does the reverse work on the (5308) revo 3.3.
should i get the opti drive. What do you all think?

from what i read it is difficult for it to change gears and most people get a 1 way conversion done for about $15

the 5308 does not have reverse i want to install it.
My friend has reverse and he said that he love it

I also have the 5309, And the reverse does get used once in a while . It's a nice thing to have. (you know just incase)

yes solly i too have read that a lot of people put foc kits on theirs. but i like it just in case because my kids stopped running after it to turn it around lol

reverse is nice, but the setup in the maxx trans leads to a weak point whith it installed. they use an internal clutch that has to spin up before the truck moves. you will see this with the jerky takeoff of the maxx rigs. the clutch is used to free up the driveline for the shift but tends to slam the gears when it engages. the FOC gets rid of the jerkyness, and gives you a bit more speed since there is less to spin in there. and it makes the trans tougher.

Thanks alot, does anyone know if its a good idea to use the opti drive as a safety. i was told that the 5308 does not need one

haha fair enough
u could bribe them with candy or for $1 every time they have to turn it over... if u hardly turn it over then its not going to cost u all that much eather haha
mabey cheaper than a reverse kit :)

the optidrive reads the shaft and will not let the servo shift to forward or reverse if the driveline is moving. its a good concept but I've heard alot of horror stories about it. just be carefull and dont shift when your going and you should be fine. if a kid was driving i wound say you may need it, but i personally wouldnt waist my time adding one if i didnt have one. my savage didnt have one and it was fine.
