I'm considering putting reverse in my savage. I'm tired of have to run and turn it around when its stuck up against something. I've heard stories though that its bad for the truck and/or causes a lot of problems. Is this true? If i make sure to stop all the way before shifting i should be fine right? I'm qurious becuase i dont want to spend the money for something thats going to cause problems.

Well, I've never seen anyone at all run the reverse module in their savage, none of the guys at my lhs use it.

Now, I know that on the t-maxx the reverse sux, and isn't reliable worth a poop.

Ya I've driven a t maxx before it did shift horibly, i was just wondering if it would be any better on a savage.

ok, i had a savage and i had reverse. I thought it was THE best thing ever. it help me in so ways. I never had any problems with it.

Awesome i think I'm gonna do it. Does it really matter what servo you use for it? I was thinkin about upgrading my throttle servo to a hi-tec 645 and using the stock throttle servo for the reverse.

I have the reverse on my Savage also and I like it. Helps me out more than wanting to run over and back it away from whatever. I make sure that it's fully stopped before engaging reverse. I have never had any problems yet with it. I used my steering servo for the reverse servo and upgraded my steering servo to a Hitec 645.
Now I wish they made something that would flip the truck back over on it's wheels :)

haha that would help a lot, i already upgraded my steering to a 645 becuase i stripped the stock servo so i figure i might as well upgrade the throttle servo and use the cheap servo for the reverse. The 645 will give me more breaking power right?

Yes you can use a cheap std. servo for the reverse module, i.e. stock throttle servo.

I have reverse on my SS, purely cos i'm lazy ;)

now i just need a self righting mechanism so i dont have to flip it back over ;)

i used the stock servo that came with my hitec ranger 3 set, after i put a nice airtronics in for steering

I installed reverse on my SS. There is no noticable drag in forward and a slight drag when it is in reverse. No problems so far. Make sure the truck is at a complete stop (hold it with the brakes) before shifting. After shifting make sure your first take off is light.

Good info to have.. I'll be adding reverse to mine later this week.

I have 2 Savages, one stock .21 and a .21 upgraded to a .26 Picco with a few other obvious upgrades. Had reverse in them both and had nothing but trouble, i.e. the truck would just sit there and rev away without engaging either forward or reverse or the truck would just piss off on its own for a while. Before you ask, yes i did adjust the collets to obtain a proper shift and yes i did try different servos of varying torque. After taking the reverse modules out the trouble went away and i can't say that i ever need reverse anyway. If your lazy then fit it and see what you think or save money and time by just walking over to it, its never too far away. Dont mean to sound like a biatch but thats the way it is.

i have had a reverse for about 8 months now. its a good upgrade, go for it. just follow the tips given

gunit

i also have the reverse on both my SS and RTR and it all good over here . but i must admit that i had the exsact same probs with my first module as dogpile cuz i didnt stop full when changing and wore half a gear awy but now i do stop every time and never had a problem
