i was out a few minutes ago running my buddy's T'maxx, whick is completly stock and dont even have a gallon of gas thruogh it yet. my question is why is it taking so long for it to shift from forward to reverse or vise versa. it shifts fine and runs great... I've never had this problem yet with a maxx. is there something I'm overlooking... I'm thinking its a servo problem but I'm not sure... any suggestions? oh i know the batteries are fresh cuz i just replaced them.

You might be idiling a little fast. I had that problem at first with mine too. It won't shift into reverse if it is too high.

if it's Idling too high the clutch for the reverse won't let the shift mechanism slide over the reverse clutch as it will have already been "opened" or sprung......and there is no adj. on the forward / reverse clutches.......do yourself a favor and dump the reverse module...more headache than it's worth......

Another thing that will prevent shifting is a load of any kind on the wheels. If you run the truck up against a tree or a bank and it wants to roll backward you won't be able to hit reverse.

This is the forward or reverse gear, I forget which. That pawl is a positive engagement to the forward/reverse clutch bell inside the tranny. Any load will hold that pawl open to the clutch bell pin and the clutch bell cannot slide off of it to the other gear.

I've found that shifting works best on level ground only.

That clicking noise that the T-Maxx makes as it starts to take off is that pawl starting to engage the clutch bell pin.

FOC conversion gets rid of that clicking because those gears come out.
