reve 2.5 super charger

try the search feature on the site. Superchargers are the single most asked about on the site. Lots of great info in the older posts, but 99.99% of the people agree, they are crap.

As Alpine has said, they aren't very good for nitro engines. All they do is lean out the fuel mix and destroy your piston and sleeve. They do not increase power enough to risk killing your engine. The thought of them is cool, but a lot of people will also tell you it's a novelty. The best way to increase the power of an RC is to install a bigger engine. You could upgrade to a 3.3 engine when your 2.5 is worn out using the engine exchange program that traxxas offers.. it's might be the most affordable option if you are on a tight budget. It also is a plus if you prefer the EZ start over a pull start, as most other brand and size engines do not accept the EZ start. It's all up to you and what you prefer though. There are a lot of people here who can answer your questions. Hopefully I did, and maybe helped you to find a better way to acheive what you're aiming for.

Thank you. Is there anything extra to put in the 3.3 I found a brand new one in the box for. A 100 bucks

If you want more power out of a 3.3, get a bigger engine! Lol, there's not much you can do to get more power out of a nitro engine, other than running 30% nitro, and leaning it out, the latter of which can kill it faster.

Yeah, I have to agree with Alien on that one. As far as I'm to understand that going to a big block nitro engine equals out to having to strengthen the drivetrain overall. I have not gone as far as doing a big block conversion on any of my rigs because I'm satisfied with a 3.3. It's all in how much you want to invest in your rig

A year or two ago, I installed one on my 3.3. It looked cool, but like everybody said, it ran too lean and toasted the motor.

Truth be told, I honestly thought it was faster with the blower on.

I've put some thought in trying to mount a small fan, like a 1" computer fan, on the intake. It just seems to me like to much trouble for very little gain

If the engine is tuned properly, and not worn out there isn't any need for a fan to cool the engine. If anything, ventilation holes help keep the engine cool

yeah go with alien and instead of 30% go with a blend of 20%and50% i can't remember the brand of 50% i used but it made a big differance and it ran cooler than just off the 20% and i had to lean it out to get it to run and it still ran cooler but alot more power

If you have 2.5 in the Revo, you should have no problem swapping in the 3.3 using the parts that you already have.

Better yet just get some byron fuels 20% nitro with 12% oil or 30% nitro with 11% oil. The oil is what really makes heat. Most 'sport' fuel has 14-17% oil which is too much IMO. The 20% byron fuel runs my 3.3 faster and cooler than 33% top fuel.

i my buddy has a custom twin engine w/ twin NOS and twin supercharger's
i can say you have to be a great tuner w/ deep pockets to keep your power plant in top condition

Yay, i get to use it again.

Yup I agree a totaly waste of money. I wish they were not because they do look cool but it is damn expensive way to ruin an engine.
I am going to be offering an engine ruining service for people. Wanna ruin your engine like the super chargers will but don't wanna spend the big money for them? Well I have the solution for YOU! I will professionaly tune your motor to where it will toast in less that one gallon guaranteed! I also polish the insides of the engine with a patented compound of sugar, carbide grit and only the highest quality quartz sand! It will remove all that pesky coating on the cylinder walls that only causes friction and excess heat! You will swear it is not the same engine the first time you run it!!! I will do this for you for $20 for small blocks and $25 for big block engines and of course plus shipping.
