Moving on....bought a good drivetrain with a 3.3 that's barely been touched...only the first two tanks of break in done by the previous owner. He stripped all the suspension to build an e-revo and I bought the rest along with another really sad roller. I've stripped the old roller and am restoring the usable parts...building a predominately black Revo with a touch of blue and red. There won't be a single part I haven't either restored or replaced...this is an impressive design right out of the box(es). Now I'm looking for a unique body to paint...may settle for the rat rod. I like this hobby...yes I do.

Yup, I've got mine broken down into pieces.
So far all looks good, found the header seal pinched so I pretty sure that's where the fuel on the chassis came from.
Chassis is straight, all the drive shafts are good, the engine has good pop to it, I looked in the exhaust port & the piston & sleeve looks good.
Clutch & CB bearings are junk, almost all the rod ends are junk.

I'm going to fleebay some shocks, push rods, air filters, and a plastics set, I will probably get a bearing set from Avid too as some of the bearing are toasty.

The rod ends, bearings and most of the screws/hardware from my parts roller are rusted and basically garbage...so I'm waiting for UPS...I'm gonna be on a first name basis with all the delivery folks in the area before too long.

So that's where that chassis went haha I put an offer on that gear over at the traxxas site .
should be a good build looking forward to your progress

Getting closer

Had to mow the lawn, do some heavy lifting for my darlin' and garden work with her (as sweet as any flower my little bride is...) then finished the t-maxx. Late last night I worked on this one...it is my new favorite...love the suspension adjustment options!

gear and roller

I am very pleased with the gear from the guy on the traxxas site...he did a great job of packaging and labeling everything. The other parts roller was a different story. Someone had a great time with it before selling it off. Rust and dry rotted tires don't show in the pics and unless you're an honest salesman it's easy to peddle junk alongside good parts. No matter...another man's "trash" is being transformed into my "treasure".

Hit a snag

Was rocking right along last night until I confirmed the shocks were shot...which is fine...I ordered GTR TiN shocks and later I'll rebuild the original shocks to use as backup.

Does anyone know of a source for EVERY screw on the Revo? I've bought three different sets and none of them have all the specialty screws I need. I can 'make do' but I prefer to use the correct screws for each part.

The tranny is forward only so I'm using a Futaba 3 channel RX with a splitter for channel one to accommodate the dual steering servos. Channel 3 will be empty until I find a use for it. Any suggestions?

So...I'm down to replacing shocks, screws, installing a wing, a fuel filter and clean up the wiring and this one should be good to go.

I have bought a few screw set from ebay chop shop from time to time such as jenny rc and dollarhobbies if you have a hard time finding revo ones the slayer sets are almost identical and are usually a bit cheaper also when ordering your shocks grab a set from an e revo as it has a better spring and oil combo than the revo

Once in a while even a blind squirrel finds an acorn!! I bought GTR e-revo shocks last night...how's that for dumb luck? Picked them up from dollar hobbies along with a set of e-revo screws. Thanks for the tip about slayer parts. I noticed the prices vary a lot from one model to another.

its like the transmissions ,the revo one albeit its got reverse is $50 where as the slayer one is $18 for that price its only a mater of changing your spur and cb to suit or spend another $10 and get a revo foc.

And I stumbled on a Revo tranny w/reverse for $14...but it was gone before I placed my order. Would the replacement spur and cb to adapt a slayer tran be the same T count and pitch as the stock Revo?

you would get very close ,the difference between the 2 is the slayer has lower output ratio due the fact it uses smaller tires but I read somewhere that could run say a 14/40 cb/spur and that would compensate for the difference internally

Are you going to use the EZ start? If you are you could put the Losi R.O.S.S. System on it and use the 3rd channel for remote start.
The biggest down side to it is the extra battery, but i would be nice to flip a switch and restart it when needed.

Looks like its coming along well.

Not yet!

I thought I was ready to roll today...but the RX was showing an unrecoverable error. It looked like the linkage was in a bind but nothing was obvious. Heck...I had just charged the batteries and was ready to run. I traced everything from the linkage on through to the wiring, powered the RX without a load...then found that my receiver battery wouldn't hold charge. I have a Venom 1600 on the way...but so is the rain. Oh well...maybe another day???

That sucks, but at least it wasn't an expensive fix.
The rain here in FL has been terrible, all my bash spots are under water or mud pits ATM.
I still have to order parts for mine, but most of the truck is in good condition.

This rain sure makes an e-revo look good.

IT'S ALIVE! Now if I could just post pics...and if the grass will dry...I'll be a happy, happy, happy guy!
