My steering servo wasn't working so well so I went out and bought a new one... Thing being, I bought this truck second hand so I didn't put it together, so I really have no idea how it goes together or apart! Are there any instruction on how to replace the servo?

Also, the fuel is just below the half way line on the tank, will it still start with this much fuel in it?

Thanks

Which savage do you have? And yes, it will start as long as there is fuel in the bottom of the tank.

For the steering servo, if you pull the cover off the receiver box, you should be able to see how it comes out.

Thanks :) My problem was, the person that had this car before me, for some reason glued the tabs of the skid plate onto the tabs on the chassis... I got it off though. And I also got the car started, I just needed to prime it in the engine a little bit.

When I replaced the servo, I just used the stock arms that was on it, and screwed the gear back onto the new hi-tech servo. I'm still having the same problem as the servo not turning at all while sitting still, and barely turning while its moving.

I'll look around for install instructions for this specific servo, but this is my first car, so I'm not sure how much luck I will have.

Here's how the servo is now:

I did get it running though, so this is all I need to do :)

And I have this one: https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/06/hpi-savage-chassis.jpg

I'm not sure which one it is, I bought it of CL with "all it needs is a new pull start"

The Hitech 645MG Is a decent steering servo for the Savy. That's what I have on mine. Make sure you have fresh batteries in the battery box, or better yet, upgrade to a rechargable hump pack and new switch with remote charge lead. You'll never have to open the box again. The big tires need a lot of juice to turn and the hump pack REALLY helped mine turn nicely (helps the brakes too)...

Check your steering servo saver too. If it's set too loose the servo arm will turn but not the tires, as the saver spring counters it.

With the 645MG, hump pack battery, and the HPI cam type servo saver my truck turns easily...

BTW, that pic is of the Savage X 4.6...

HTH...

When I bought it, it had the rechargable batteries.... But no charger for it, so I re did it and built my own battery box with 4 AA's.

I got it to turn by replacing the horn, the old one was stripped, now to just tune it :)

I did a little bit ago in the fields across the street. Huge ruts and it runs amazing :)

Thanks for the help!
