It is a started that turns the nitro engine with an electric motor. They are called EZ start by Traxxas. All one does is attach a battery to they vehicle start system, and it will turn the motor and hopefully light the plug.

It depends.. There is also a way to make a starter that you can operate with your remote. Its like using your open channel (i.e. FOC tranny you have the auxillary channel open). It looks fairly easy. You hit the 3rd channel switch and it turns the motor over and fires it up. All you have to do is stand there. There is a video on YouTube of a Jato with it on there. Dude sits the rig down, walks away, and the truck starts and takes off on its own.
