Well ladies, I've grown tired of crashing, breaking and repairing my heli and plane. Being the gung-ho idiot that I am, I figured I could teach myself to fly these things. Now I haven't done too bad, but it ain't pretty. So, to help myself, I finally decided to invest in a flight simulator. I looked around a bit and settled on Reflex XTR which is a German made sim distributed by MRC. It's pretty cool because it uses photo-realistic scenery and planes. And as best I can tell, they physics seem good. Not sure about 3D and other agressive flying on it since I don't know how to do that. But I can fly the trainer fine and land it. And I'm even starting some basic aerobatics with some of the other planes. It's helping a ton. And I can even hook my own Hitec Flash 4 tx to it. So my fingers feel at home. Here are a few screenshots from my own machine.

I've had Knife Edge's RealFlight G2 for a few years and I taught myself how to fly my nitro heli with it. It takes all the 'fear of flying' out of learning, since wrecks don't cost a cent.
The screen shots you included are amazing since it seems to show an actual grass field, rather than just a green floor as in G2.
G2 also uses photo-realistic scenery, but on your XTR it looks like an actual photo taken at a field.
What's the price? How many planes and helis are included and are there add-ons.
Can you custom edit engines and control surfaces?

No Scott, that's a true screen grab from my PC. And I'm running this thing on a baseline Dell 2400 with their basic Intel integrated graphics. It's amazing how these things look.

Rolex, I paid $189 for it and it comes with whatever cable you need to attach your own tx to it. I got mine at www.dreamhobbies.com. Service was great. The sim is from Germany I guess and it's rather new. It comes with I'd say probably 20 planes from things as basic as a Kyosho trainer to a few large scale Katanas. It also comes with probably a dozen helis including simple fixed-pitch electrics (LMH Corona) to bigger nitros like the Raptor 50. The scenery is actually taken from real pics. As are the planes. They include a CAD program which you can use to design your own plane. If you have multi-angle photos of a real plane you can design them into the program. And you have the ability to alter pretty much every aspect of the plane. From control throws to thrust and engine and a ton of stuff that I have no clue about. I also registered at the program's home site. From there you can grab other planes and helis to download for free....
