Redcat Gen 9 Start Up Problem

I just got a Redcat Gen 9 for Christmas, and I’m having some issues. When I plug my full charged battery in it goes a little bit forward then a little bit again then a lot forward then it stops, and I don’t even touch the throttle. Also when I go forward if I look at the motor there is this light in the motor, and it smells a bit weird is this me or is it normal. Finally it won’t go backwards. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Verify the batteries are new in the radio.
Next find in manual and perform ' radio binding' & then 'calibration'.
That might fix you up easy!
