hello all, i have a used savy 21 that i am rebuilding (bad choice for a first nitro). you name a problem and i've had it with this thing! the problem presenting itself this time happens to be my reciever. the truck will be running just fine for a few seconds, or a few minutes, and then act like you just turned off the truck, you know how the servos will just stay where you put them when you turn off the power. sometimes it comes to, or sometimes it takes off, or keeps turning, reversing, ect... anyway, i don't know if there is something wrong with the reciever or what. i know its not the switch or battery wiring, cause i updated the battery box and wiring with savage X parts. its also not really acting like a low voltage problem. i had to do some trimming on the box cover to allow room for my throttle mod, and i happened to notice the servo's goin epileptic on me from vibrations from the dremel.

also, has anyone had problems with carbs starting to loosen up or wiggle a lil bit? is this a problem? whats the best way to tighten and seal one up? thanks for any help in this situation!

The "Salvage" thanks you!

It could be a crystal issue. They are sometimes very sensitive to vibration and if you crack a crystal it will cause the electronics to act like you have intermittent or no reception. It can also cause the servos shake. You might want to pick up a spare set of crystals to test for that.

As far as the carb, get some Ultra Copper sensor-safe sealant. Take the carb off. Put a THIN coat on the outside of the carb throat. Slip it back into the case, push it in firm and tighten the pinch nut. Let it dry and it should be secure and sealed.

the craked crystal happend to mine, when i was useing my sav x it keept of turning to the left and sounded like it was boging but it wasn't, try and change your crystal see if that dose anything.

is there a sure fire way to remove the carb with out damage? also, do i have to clean or prep the surfaces to be sealed before application? my old motor had a problem like that and i could spind the carb alot, but it would not come out. the motor didnt seem to want to run, so i just pryed it out, and then it didnt wanna stay in or snug up. the motor i am working on is fairly new, probably not even a gallon gone through it.

No trick to getting it out. Just loosen the nut and wiggle the carb out. Sometimes it takes a bit of effort to get it out. But there's no lip or anything. You should probably give the carb throat and seat a quick wipe with denatured alcohol to remove any possible oil that's on there before you seal. Should stay just fine after you tighten the nut and let the sealant cure.

where can i get this ultra copper sensor safe sealant? is it something from the auto parts store?

Copper sealant from a local auto parts store = yes.

You might also check the battery pack in the receiver. A low pack might also cause it to act like that.
