Reciever battery pack?

I just bought a new Duratrax 6V 1600maH NIMH Rx flat pack for my Jato and was wondering how long I needed to charge it for the first time before using it? I have looked all over the pack for charge time and there is nothing on there so I was just wondering. Should I charge it all night before the first use or just a few hours. It does say don't overcharge so thats why I'm asking. My dynamite charger that I normally use with a timer that tells me when the battery's are full messed up so I'm having to use the crappy charger that come's with a new rc. Any help will be appreciated and thanks in advance.

If the crappy charger does not have an indicator LED on it,the only other way to tell if it's fully charged is to check voltage. Fully charged a 6V NiMh pack will be 6.9V-7V.

I'm not an expert here but how I would do it is this, check the output of the charger first. Divide 1600mAh of the battery by the output to get a max charge time. Then check the battery voltage and use the decimal number as your percentage of charge(6.4 = 40%,6.1=10%). Subtract that from 100% to get the percentage of your max time to charge the battery.

Or option 2,wing it and charge for a while then check voltage and repeat if necessary until you get the 6.9V reading

i tried something, i doubled the voltage to the ez-start motor. seams to be ok, however i only ran a short time, like 10 sec. the voltage going to the glow plug is just like it was. what think?
