I just bought one, and WOW. I like it. It makes my servos move faster (I don't know why), in the long run, it saves a lot of money. Are there any downfalls to having one though?

The reason you see an improvement in performance from your servos is that they have a torque and speed rating for both 4.8 volts and 6 volts. If you got a 5 cell 6 volt RX pack then of course a difference will be seen.

Congrats.Great upgrade. Just research how to maintain it.

Oh okay. I'll go search everything I need to know about them. But I was wondering, will there ever be a time when I'm going to need to buy another battery pack?

They say they take 1000 charges, but like anything else, it's how you care for them. Treat it right, it will last you a LONG time. It will pay for itself MANY times over compared to alkalines.

Awesome. Did some research, they said not to overcharge them or it will wear out quality and if left to long it'll melt (Obviously), same thing happened to one of my battery packs for my starter box.

I heard that NiMH battery packs lose their power even when you aren't using it. Is this true?

Yes, that's true, so always charge them fully the night before you plan on running it.
They don't lose it quickly, but if it sits around for a month or 2, they will drop off very quickly when you use them.

Oh okay. So it's not like I'm gonna charger them in the morning then tomorrow I find that they already died right?

No, not at all. If I don't use my screw guns for a month or so, the NiCads still have good life in them, but the NiMHs go flat on one screw, so I always charge them up the day before I need them.
The advantage is NiMH gives a better run time.
