I have gone through 2 HPI RF-1 receivers in the past year. Both have become defective. :( What is a good upgrade to replace this reciever that is more durable. Will the upgrade required a different radio?

IMO just get a new radio setup.

I run 2 spektrum dx3e's. On my baja and savage.
I use a hitec agressor on 2 of my boats and a hitec lynx on the other two. All three radio's cheap considering what others pay for their radio systems.

Some run dx3.0's and dx2's but I didn't like the way it fit my hand. I held it in my hand at the Wram show in New York. The handle stuck out an extra 1/2in below my hand, so I didn't go for it.

I like all of these radio's above, but I like the spek's the most. Don't even bother with AM radio's like the one that comes stock on the savage. Their not worth the trouble of glitching.

Also the spektrum radios offer built in fail safe's which is a nice feature. But then again so do most 2.4ghz radios.

right now in using the spektrum dx3e and theres no problems with it so far

Thanks for the advice. I purchased the specetrum DX3E which came with the SR300 receiver. I was able to bind it Ok , have control of servos but the failsafe for the brakes doesn't seem to work if I turn the radio off and the reciever is still on. Is ther some trick to setting it up.

To bind, put your bind plug the receiver but don't turn it on yet. Hold your tx in the break position and turn it on. Keep doing this and turn the rx on. That should work.
