hey fellas, i just looked at a motor that came with my t-maxx 4909 (used) and theres seems to be a lot of damage in there . when i got it i did'nt fart arond with it, i installed a picco .26 .

damge to the 3.3:
shoulder on piston brocken off
sleave scoring
bent and twisted connecting rod
minoir pinning in the head
the guy i got it from said the motor stopped dead at full throttle just like a cold seizure. just wondering if it's worth rebuilding this engine or use it as an anchor. what would have caused this anyways ?
i'd like to send pics if i new how.
tks

tks for the reply docsis7

i have herd some peaple are not impressed with traxxas returns and it taking a long time. i did'nt realy think i'd put that motor together since i have a .26 in it now. but i'd like to know what hapend to it. and can somebody point me in the right direction to post pics or to "resize" them somehow

Ok here we go to rebuild the motor this is the price....
New Piston and sleeve = $60
New motor bearings = $30
New cooling head = $20
New connecting rod = $10
these are just the basics so,,, $120 at a minimum

IMO use the Traxxas replacement program.
You already have an engine in the truck so you have no down time. Who cares if it takes 6 weeks. The 3.3 you get from traxxas will be like new and cheaper than rebuilding.

If it was an O.S. 21 worth $300 then yes rebuild, but it's not it's a 3.3 and it's not worth rebuilding... IMO

i agree with u but i'm more interested in wtf happened to do that much damage. what doies imo stand for anyways ?

if your interested in how the damage happened to the engine, well never underestimate the destructive nature of human beings. even worse is the novice rc owner. lol

tks for the replys

ya i dont think i'd rebuild it ether. if i ever have to purchase a motor i'll look into it for sure. i once hydrolocked an o.s.46 while starting it, but i dont think that would be possible while at full speed imo (tks mgt8) but i'll try to find the answer
