Rear diff gone after two gallons
After roughly 1-1/2 to 2 gallons, I finally broke something that stopped me other than a spur gear - rear diff. Talk about a show stopper. The front was trying but the rear just drug everything down.
I just took it apart. Hope I can get it back together. Once I busted the diff open I found that 4 screws on the big gear (name?) were lose that held the whole assembly together. Once inside there were 4 gears - one on the top - one on the bottom - and two on the sides (they are mutually connected - and are held in by the plastic assembly slots - what are these gears called?). These gears were shaven. I guess due to the lo0sening of the 4 outside screws that hold everything together.
My questions are:
1) Should I use locktite on these four screws?
2) Did running on ice probably contribute to this - HIGH spinning RPM's?
The T maxx I was running suddenly got quicker....
