and i use sloppy for lack of a better word. anyway ever since i got my savage back together with all GPM suspension parts and i put HPI sport shocks(orange) it sits really low. i want it to sit low because its set up for street use but when i accelerate it bottoms out the shocks. ther is no back pressure from the shocks. I'm afraid to go off a jump because i might break the shocks. any idea whats wrong.

BTW: I'm using 100wt oil

The weight of the oil controls the dampening effect. It's the SPRINGS that control the ride height. If your new shocks are shorter than the stockers, that would also have an effect on ride height, but if it dumps the rear on takeoff, you need either stiffer springs or pre-load spacers.

to get my rigs to sit lower, i put fuel line inside the shock body, right under the piston. then you can run your stiffer springs and oils as well as your spring collers but they wont effect the ride hight. i like the look of a savvy slammed to the ground, but i hate when it drags its ass. so i also put fuel line on the outside of the shock shaft as well to stop it from bottoming out.

You put red HPI shock springs on? I know they are kinda an orangish color.
If that is what you did, they are the softest springs made for the Savage.
Red=Soft
Green= Medium Soft
Blue=Medium
Purple and black are the same, Firm.
If you truck is heavy with aluminum hop-ups, the reds are not going to be your friend.
I always liked the Green springs on mine, until it was time to air it out. Then the black ones went back on.

I'm not sure, but I think I got my yellow springs through rc-mall on Ebay. My Savage is up to 16 lbs. with all the alloy, and the springs are 16 coil heavy duty instead of stock 26 coil.

16 lbs???!!! That's a boat anchor not a R/C!
What do have on it? Stainless arms and shocks? Cast iron TVP and skidplate?

Some cast I-beams and chrome plated heavy duty steel.

Rolex,
Thats one nice looking truck, what do you use it for? I like the idea of the second gas tank although one bashing session with me and it would be ripped off...unfortunately. Also I like the wheelie bar and a nice look to have the springs on it. Although, again, it would be ripped off or bent all to hell after one session of mine as well. I would love to have a truck with fancy looking pieces on it, however, I drive my truck in gravel pits and up and down 50 ft hills, I don't know what else to use a monster truck for, but it would sure be nice to have a sweet show truck like yours. Which brings me back to my original question...what do you use it for??

He uses it to keep his shelves from flying away. And from what I hear, it's pretty good at it, too.

LMAO. It keeps dust off one of my glass shelves right now, but it will get fired up pretty soon.
I've never been a basher. It hurts to see something flipping across pavement or running into a tree. I just like to drive them, fast and controlled.
I don't remember how many gallons I put through my old Tmaxx, but I never broke anything except a fuel tank, and I blew out one differential because a bearing went bad. It was run hard and fast, but with caution.

LMFAO sorry guys i would have responded earlier but i only got email that rolex replied. I'm using the red springs cause i didnt know that they were softer. i have the same arms as rolex

and I'm not adding preload spacers because i dont want to have to deal with shock oil again. where can i find stiffer springs and can i paint them red and not worry about them cracking?

Stop riding them so hard.

i concur............

One of my buddies painted a set of his stock HPI springs with Lexan paint. It lasted for a while before it wore off. Being that you use yours on-road, the lexan paint should last a while. Powdercoating would be the proper way.
Nice queen there Rolex. She's beautiful.
Inetgy makes a set of springs, comes with a bunch of colors.

Think about the Triple Rate springs they work very well for me and perhaps could work for you. A lot of guys on here recommended them for me and I love them now.

Lexan paint would be the best, since it flexible. Any hard coat enamel or lacquer would start to crack immediately.
Powder coating would be the best.
If you plan to paint them, surface cleaning and prep would be the most important part of the job.
