I'm getting ready to buy a newer edition of Realflight that will work with my Vista machine that's in the hobby room. I was planning on buying Realflight G4 for $199 with Tower's promotion to get all of the add on discs for free.

However, I came across a realflight G3.5 for about half the price, and I was wondering how much difference there was in it and the newest version, G4. I don't think G3.5 has water planes, which is something that I was really looking forward to. Can anyone else tell me about the difference, such as graphics, how are the tutorials, etc...

I'm totally new to flying, and I'm buying this so that I can learn how to fly and learn about the different planes and choppers so that when I do start buying aircraft, I can make informed decisions.

I didn't get a chance to talk to my hobby guy today, but I had G2, went for G4. Lots more planes and helis, but I'm not sure if G3.5 had water craft. G4 has helis and seaplanes that take off and land on the water, and some that have retracts that will also do runway landings. I really enjoy the floaters.

I went ahead and bought the G4 edition with all the add ons. It would have been smarter to buy the G3.5, but I just don't buy something unless it's the biggest and the best. I figure if I'm going to do it, might as well do it right.

Yes I think we will look forward for your reviews and also I am looking forward to upgrade from G3.5 to G4... I will wait for your review before I go for IT.

Thanks

I will definitely write a review. I was wanting to write a review anyway and post it especially so the guys that have only dealt with surface RC's can see the review and decide if it's something that they want to embark (sp) on

I have used both 3.5 and 4. There is not a huge difference between the two but the graphics in g4 are slightly better and you get planes that can take off from the water. However, if you plan on using the sim quite a bit you went the right way because of the controller that comes with g4. The one with g3.5 just feels pretty cheap all around.
