Hi,
I use a tempgun thermometer that ranges from -27 (?) to 450F.

I am currently in the brea-in process of my duratrax warhead (supertigre 0.27 engine). I know it should never exceed 250-270F.

I am wondering how and where you read the most accurately the temp. because I don't think it is normal that I get after 3 minutes max. readings of 397F or even 417F ?

thanks again.

Wow, thats hot. Most people put it where the glow plug is at. If you're getting that hot, it's way too lean. Need to richen it up.

Are you sure the temp gun is working right? It could just be giving you whack readings.

If you want to test it, just boil some water (it never goes above 212 F, boiling temps) and point the gun at it. Should not be more than 3 or 4 degrees off or you need to get the gun calibrated.

i would reset your needle settings back to manufactur settings and take a reading from there, run the truck around a little bit and take a reading again it shouldnt be any much higher than what cupooterluvr stated, are you pointing the gun right at the glow plug? if your gettting that hot, I'm assuming your not doing something right with the break in process? maybe your to lean and giving it to much throttle

I am with pooter, check the temp gun to make sure its accurate. If it is you need to richen that poor truck up before it has a heat attack! :)
