WTF!! I just read the Savage X vs the TMAXX 3.3

Tha Maxx won pretty much because the Maxx wheelied better. OMG! What freaking moron makes a MT win due to the wheelie factor. Yes the Maxx has better options add from the Revo but the Savage got a lot of new stuff as well. Easier diff and Radio access. Even a engine guard. I had the maxx and they did improve a lot of weak spots but come on!!!! A wheelie decided the whole thing? If anything I thought it should have been a TIE at best.

Had to vent.... it seems that RCCA is sprung on the Maxx. I have a Revo 3.3 and I still love the Savage.

Just goes to show you Traxxas has there hands In a lot of pockets...
Its been that way for a long time..That is why RCNT is here after all..We know the truth..
And will not take the word of the Hippocrates of the magazine world....

Thats cuz RCCA is in love with traxxas and will do pretty much anything Traxxas tells them to or they will stop paying RCCA. I read that too and I was like, wtf? I also saw another decider was the t-maxxes top speed. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

Don't get me wrong I really love the Revo but keep it real people. Wheelie factor?

Wheelie factor Now there Is a selling factor.
Wheelie your ride so you can spend more money on our products...When you blow your diffs and half shafts out...YA! pretty big of the big guys To use that as a selling point..BLAAAA BLHAAAA BLHAAA....
Number 1# reason I will never own another Traxxas product...Its all hype On there end...
Buy the the best our product will wheelie right out of the box BS!

"Wheelie Factor"??? Sounds like a little kid wrote that.
What about strength + less down time = "fun factor." Savage has it.

Honestly since when has RCCA gave an honest opinion? Whom ever has the most money wins in their articles.

Maybe if I was rich and could afford both a X Savage, Revo, and T-Maxx I could do an article and compair the three myself. None of them are advertisers here, nor do I currently own either so how could that be biased?

Did this mag come out just now? I have not seen it yet.

I hafta say a T-Maxx beating a Savage in any competition seems retarded to me. The T-Maxx is done imo, traxxas should be focusing on the truck that they actually did well, the Revo. The Revo is the only reason I have any respect at all for them.

I know better as well, I bought an X.

After working on all 3 at the LHS now I can say I like working on the maxx the best/ Beating the Savage and not having to work on em/ and just think the Revo is WAAAAAAYYYY too much hype......the engine mounting in the Revo is just Stupid IMO......and the diffs are a bitch to get to as well.....not just in how much you have to dissassemble but the way it has to go together....every one bitched about working on th esavage but I find it's really easy to do if you remove one TVP and expose the side you need to get to.....the savage has the most grunt for sure......but drives (handles) like a 4x4 brick w/ a lift kit.......the T-maxx is just a decent all around rig (especially now w/ the better slipper/better axles and reinforced Bulkheads......the Revo has to be the most PITA truck I have worked on but definately out performs both the others on the track......I just think the repair process on em ruins their appeal to me......

say no more!!!they prob. own part of the mag.

thats lame. I think wheelies are kinda retarded myself. Yeah there cool for a few minutes, but Id rather not wheelie myself. Id rather have it hook up nice on all 4 tires and just shoot out. But yeah, RCCA has always had there head in traxxas lap. doesn't suprise me. Ya should write em!

......the engine mounting in the Revo is just Stupid IMO

Whatcha talkin' 'bout, Willis? Having owned all three at one point and currently owning the Savage and Revo 2.5, I have to admit that pulling the mill on the Revo is not nearly as dreadful as pulling one on the Savage. Two bolts and that puppy slides right out!

On my Savage, I have to remove four screws to pull the center skid plate (which is optional, I'll admit). Then I have to remove eight screws from the rear skid plate and two screws from the cross support. Once I have all that peeled away, it's four screws to yank the mill.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

What are you talkin about MW? You don't hafta pull all that stuff out to get the mill out of a savage, Its just 4 screws and out pops the engine, on its mount that is.

Maybe so on the X (which I personally haven't seen) but to pull it out of my 4.6 SS, I decrease the risk of stripping the bolts that attach the engine to the mount by pulling the engine and mount at once. I stripped a set of mount bolts trying to get them off, but because of the head on the mill, I can't get a straight shot with a hex driver. Make sense?

Don't get me wrong, I dig my Savage totally, but, in my opinion, I've found wrenchng on the Revo to be a easier than my Savage. What I've heard is that wrenching on the X's is far easier than the older Savage's.

MW, I have a 4.6 and I don't go through any of that. There are big holes in the rear skid that line up with the 4 engine mount screws. You just slip your big ole hex through the holes in the bottom and the engine comes right out.

hex wrench goes right up through those holes from the bottom and the engine comes right out.

Only 4 screws for me. On both the X and S25
If you have a skid plate, then just drill the extra holes in it.

I'll take some pictures of what I have, maybe I'm not explaning it clearly. My apologies for derailing the thread, Jon. Not intentional.

I read the article as well and, frankly, I didn't think the comparison was worth the ink to begin with. I've never really considered the T-Maxx and the Savage to be in the same class (although they both are MT's) but felt the Revo and Savage were more of an apples-to-apples comparison.

As has been mentioned, the ability to wheelie is not a determining factor in my book but having seen the number of recent threads asking how to get "X" rig to wheelie, it seems to be the rave as of late!

I agree I don't see the point of comparing a Savage and a Maxx in the first place. Savage X vs. Revo 3.3 would be more worth while.

As for taking out your engine, I still don't see how its taking you more than 4 screws to get it out haha.

And, my Savage X is box stock 100%, even the radio, and it pulls wheelies whenever I want, which is usually for about 30 seconds, then I go hit some jumps haha. In this department the only thing the Maxx has over the savage is the wheelie bar included, which you can get for like 10 bucks for the savage.
