I guess this counts as "Other". I started this thread on RCTech but figure I can cross post it here.

I went digging in a box in my garage this weekend and found a pair of original RC10Ts in various stages of completion. I just recently gotten back into RCs with a Slash racing in a spec class, and I'm really enjoying the CORR type truck class. Since I only convinced myself to get back into RC by vowing a very limited budget, getting another truck to possibly race in a mod class was not an option. With 1 rolling chassis, and another with many parts to act as spares I started planning out the chassis extension to match the CORR specs.

Basically I just used the front chassis plate from 1 truck, a little measuring, cutting, and drilling, to make an ~2" extension for the chassis. For the upper support rods, I tried to find some aluminum tube similar to stock but had no luck. I also tried graphite tube, but it just split when I tried to drill it. I ended up using some 3/16" solid steel rod. Its a little heavier than I wanted, but I will probably need that weight in the front to help balance the truck.

So thats it so far. I have a rolling chassis with just under 13" wb. I still need to order some SC10 wheels and tires, then I also need to work out some body mounts and bumpers, but I wanted to make sure the plan for the chassis worked out before I bothered with any of that.

Once I got the chassis sorted out, I ordered some SC10 wheels, tires, bumpers, and shocks, picked up some generic body mounts and hardware from the LHS, and got back to work.

I was able to just add generic extended mounts to the stock 10T mount locations. For now I just added some new holes to the stock Slash body I'm not using to get it test fit.

Once the wheels and shocks came in I got those mounted up. The rear axles have changed since the truck was made so I had to order some new CVD axles to replace the axle end of my old CVDs. I also need new bearings at each corner, but I'll get to that later.

All that I have left to get the basic rolling chassis completed at this point are the bumpers and the new rear axles. I'm not sure if I'll use the Slash or SC10 front bumper. Just depends on which fits better. I should be able to make the SC10 rear bumper work. The Slash rear didn't look like it would work out well at all.

looks great, I love seeing people modifying their vehicles to match the new racing classes

:thumbup1: Looks good, I plan on doing the same thing to a old rustler I have.

Got the SC10 bumpers last night but I haven't had any time to see how they will fit. Just waiting on the new CVD axles now and it should be a roller.

More progress made. I got the SC10 bumpers mounted. For the front I just drilled some new holes in the chassis to match the SC10 skid. Used some 4-40 screw to mount that in place. I didn't have any way to support the upper bumper mounts, but it all feels pretty solid. If I end up breaking the skid at some point I'll figure out some way to include those upper mounts.

In the rear, I drilled 2 new holes in the rear tower, and one in the motor plate to hold the rear bumper in place. The Slash body is just a bit longer overall so I had to do some minor additional trimming to get that down around the bumpers. It looks pretty good if I do say so myself.

Here are some detail shots. Its not the prettiest SCT on the block, but it should be fun to run.

Who cares if its pretty or not, it gets you out there, and is something to show off imo.

Nice, I like seeing original projects like this, built from other kits, scratch, etc. :thumbup1:

So how did the project work out in the end?

I dig seeing the creativity! Work with what you've got and run what'chu brung!

Man that looks real good how's it run I have a old dura trax st I'm thinkin bout choppin up now lol its got a busted chassie anyway :)
