hey everyone,
I'm new to the rc world and i recently broke my rod in my motor. I think it was because it wasn't properly broken in.
Anyway I'm looking for a new motor. i want to upgrade from stock, I just dont know what to look for. I notice that some have a threaded axle and mine doesn't. Whats the difference between rotary and slide carbs. What should i be looking for. Any help or suggestions are appreciated
thanks
Simon

the rc10gt needs an engine with a short crank. OS makes a nice one .15cvrx i think its called. but to be honest, i have the stock AE engine in mine and it is still as fast or faster than everyone else i know that has an aftermarket engine, with the exception of course for the $300 piccos and rossi's.my advice would be to just repair the AE engine u have now. otherwise go with OS - I've had several in my planes, and never had one bit of trouble

I just put one of these in my RC10GT and LOVE it and it is very inexpensive....................
O.S. .12 CV-R

I forgot to ask if this was a bump or pull start but here is the pullstart version, although it is $70 more

O.S. CV-RX

The GT requires a short crank motor and you can use either slide or rotary carb although rotarys are more common on off-road because stdium trucks dont require such a smooth transition from idle to top like the on road guys do. Also this motor will flat smoke any associated motor hands down, if you ask me ae motors suck.

I actually have a traxxas .15 pro (older tmaxx motor) and it works good. About the same power as the AE motor. I'll say though, with few mods that AE motor is about the best motor you can toss on a RC10. People who really know about the motors will tell you the same thing. OS motors are great, but the AE can be just a bit better. Go to a local race and find someone who knows about them and is willing to put the money into them to get them going great. :)
