I currently have a GT RTR Plus. The only mods right now are a rpm wide front bumper, reciever cover, and an inline fuel filter. ALL I DO IS BASH! I've had the truck for about 2 weeks and its been hopped off curbs, rolled/tumbled it pretty hard a few times at full speed, hit trees(not intentional), and has seen about 5-6 feet of air from a ramp I have. This truck is taking some SERIOUS abuse. Now for the questions. I plan on getting some RPM A-Arms. Will carbon fiber, titanium, or graphite be better for the shock towers? I'm just bashing and also money is not an issue. A buddy told me aluminum may warp or bend. :hammer: So far I've broken the exhaust hanger/holder(been replace) and lost 2 thin nuts, 1 from a turnbuckle, other from rear bumper. I've replaced those and checked all connections and used loctite on the ones that needed it. I bash in medium-hard dirt, grass, and concrete. Will the Dirt Hawg II, Dirt Works, or Speed Paw be better? Sorry for the long post and all the questions   Thanks

Also will red springs in back help cause the rear is beginning to really sag? The shocks are kinda leaky too. Thanks

As for the shock towers, I believe that rpm makes some shock towers, and so those would be your best bet.
As for tires, the Masher 2000's would be great all-around tires if your engine has the power, and you change your gearing.

RPM does not make shock towers, but i would reccomend an RPM rear bulkhead. I have some Hardcore Racing titanium shock towers, and i highly reccomend them too. I have bent various aluminum towers, but i have yet to bend these. They take some serious abuse. I think carbon fiber and graphite is more for racing...

For the a-arms, good choice! I have the RPM a-arms and love em!!! I would also reccomend the RPM rear bearing carriers (or axle carriers, whatever they are called). They have bigger bearings, and they take a lot more abuse than the stock stuff.

For the tires, i would suggest the dirt hawgs... They wont do that great in grass, but they work nicely on the street and in the dirt. I run dirt hawgs on my GT, and i love em... They dont wear out fast, but they have good grip.

Yes, red springs will bring up the back end, and they will help out when jumping. If you have leaky shocks, you need to rebuild them. AE sells shock rebuild kits for these shocks.. they are like $2 for 4 shocks. There are also preload clips that you can clip in above the spring to help bring up the rear.

For some more parts advice:

Rpm Turnbuckle ends. The are thicker, and dont pop off the ball studs as much, and i have yet to break one. I broke stock ones all the time. I would also suggest a Lundsford Titanium Turnbuckle/hingepin kit. I broke the stock turnbuckles a couple times from bashing, and havent broken a lundsford one yet.

Also! A fail safe would be a good idea!!! They are about $20 and they can save the life of your car!

CVDs are also nice to have. They make the drivetrain smoother and they dont fall out like the stock dogbones...

I know I'm missing something... But, you dont need all of these things, just somethin to put on your wishlist. All of these parts can be bought from www.towerhobbies.com I buy from them all of the time, and they are about 1/2 the price of your LHS (with most things). Let me know if you have any problems with your GT. I can help ya fix just about anythin...

Thanks Guys!
.21RC10GT great advice and pointers. I actually bought all my items from tower hobbies, except the thin nuts, batteries, and fuel. Theres a LHS and a HobbyTown where I live with in 15-20 minutes driving time. I'll let ya know of any other questions I may have.

O, ok, I thought that rpm did make the shock towers...guess not, I wasn't too sure anyway. I thought I saw some blue rpm towers one someone's rig once, but guess not...

Also should I put some heavier weight oil in my shocks?
I plan on getting a good amount of parts tomorrow. PAYDAY

Depends. The I'm pretty sure AE puts 30 weight oil in the shocks from the factory. If you need some more dampening, try some 40 or 50 wt. If you run on the street, you want a heavier oil, along with jumping. If you run on rough ground, you should go with some lighter oil to help absorb the bumps. Pick up some extra E-clips!!! The get lost, or fall off sometimes, and it sucks to end the day from one stupid e-clip missing... You should also get some extra screws.. www.hexcrews.com sells good screws for some good prices. I just bought a whole bunch of em for all of my rc's...

Cvec7 - RPM makes shock towers for the T-maxx. They do not make them for the STs.

 One last question, should I buy the same set of tires, front and rear, since its only a 2wd truck?

I put dirt paws all the way around on mine, but thats your decision. I did it for looks but it isn't necessary.

I have some proline dish wheels, with normal ribbed tires mounted and glued. Lightly used if you want them. $10 shipped.

If you want, you can get 4 tires... I like the ribbed tires on the front, but thats just me... The ribbed tires last a while on dirt and grass, but once you hit the street, they are toast after about an hour... Its all up to you.

Thanks guys. I just hope the red springs and 40 wt oil isnt too stiff for all the bumps and dips in my backyard( 80% is dirt and dirtballs). With my current tires, they sometimes just spin with no traction coming up hill(Backyard is kinda sloped downwards from the rear deck). The dirt is kinda moist. But not too loose or gravelish.

.21Rc10GT, what type of failsafe are you using in this pic?

Ya, 40 should be fine. In my ST, I ran 40 up front and 60 in back, and didn't have any problems w/ it beeing too much on the dirt, track, contruction site, or whatever...

and in that pic, he's runnin the ofna micro failsafe. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEYG2&P=ML

BTW .21rc10gt, what .21 are you running? I know you run a .21, but never really
thought to ask which...

Not running a .21 anymore... It was a hyper 8 port... New engine has been mentioned, but will be a surprise... I will have it going in a couple weeks.

I use a Ofna fail safe.

Make sure you get the factory team chassis. The RTR chassis is shorter. The longer chassis makes it handle alot better.

Actually, the GT Plus had the longer chassis. It is the older one before the Plus version that had the shorter chassis.

I'm going to get some pics up of my "bash pit" tonight :hammer:

Good thread. I'm about to purchase an RC10GT from one of the guys here, so what else you guys think it could use? I saw a nice set of front & ream bulk heads for about 20 bucks, How do the stock parts handle the ass kicking?

Everything i stated in the first post or so are good upgrades. The stock stuff does hold up ok, but there are a few weak points. The biggest weak point i found was the ball cups...
