Anyone know where any plans to build one? If none are free I may be willing to purchase one.

Do you mean as in a tractor pull type of thing? The kind that the 1:1 scale verson has 4 blown big blocks sitting on the front of it?

Never seen one myself. Best thing I can think to do is email the person at that site and ask them. You never know, maybe they'll sell you that one!

they are selling them for 600$ a pop. And that is without the weights. What a rip off

I did email him about that sled. he told me the proce on that is listed on the web site. for 600 bucks.. but he would be willing to work on the price.

I looked at some material at the hardware store and it looks like I may be able to build one for like 50 bucks

I dont think so..

I think the most difficult thing would be it making a cable that would pull the weight box up the sled.. But the weight box must reach the top of the sled at 30 feet.

I've already started drawing some plans to create this. I could double the cost which I may do by buying some of that diamond plating for the box.. Looks real nice. but that stuff is expensive.

:breakdown

You should build it, Buzz. You'll have to brush up on your geometry. Critical dimensions to factor in are sled wheel diameter and spool diameter. Your toughest task might be trying to keep the spool diameter as close to a constant as possible while reeling in cord. Think of a fishing reel.

I get paid this week so I'm gonna buy materials..

I know i can build the unit, it's just the movement of the box. But next to my work there is this old man,, (like 80+) well his whole life he was a Machinist, welder, fabricator..

So you can say he knows his Stuff.. I'm gonna take him the progect and see if he can come up with the way to pull the box up..

I was sorta thinking if I use a differential from the maxx and a spool if it will spin the the right speed to use that.

Differentials are perpendicular axes, you want parallel axes for this application. Just give him those specs: In thirty feet of roll, the load is pulled 12" (?) to the front of the sled.

Take pictures and measurements of everything you buy and fabricate. It'd be a really good document of a "Member's Project".

I wonder how far my T-maxx could pull one of those.....

Yuppers, I'm drawing out plans and I'm going to be snapping pics along the way.
