The Villages Polo Grounds.
Close cut burmuda grass. Hundreds of yards of level grass. :)

HaHa. Polo Grounds, eh? Looks like a primo place for RC grasstrack speed runs.

Actually been following the grass prep TT&P for the upcoming soccer world cup seeing if I can pick up any tricks on making a more durable RC racing surface.

Cheers. -AC

Sorry if I missed it, but weren't you moving somewhere up north? Did that ever happen?

And yeah, that is a sweet looking little track!
No, Kevin, the move north is on indefinite hold. Much to the disappointment of my significant other. Be RCing here for a while longer. -AC

I'd like to move myself. But that would be a nightmare to go through that at this point. But if things go the way I expect them to this time next year when the lease is up, I'm going to be looking for someplace else.

UTRL 2025 Winter Season racing ended last Sunday, June 15th. Season officially ends June 19th allowing time for totaling points, podium photo session and closing out the season. Summer break begins June 20th and lasts until September 19th.

Senton 2WD buggy closed out the season with an Event 5 win posting a 4lap Trophy Dash time of 0m:30sec. Coming P2 for a tie were the Bandit buggy and Bandit midget conversion, both posting times of 0m:31sec. Rustler ST event heat suffered a rain out and had to accept P4 points based on its qualifying Q4 earlier in the month.

Bandit buggy took season 1st place honors with 90 points total; Senton 2S buggy finished P2 with 85 points.

That's a wrap. Thanks for looking in and following along. -AC

It was a great season! Fun to follow along with!!!
Looks like the cars survived with minimal damage so wins all around!!! 😎👍

Thanks, guys. And WOW, Kevin. Thanks for the classic gear head trophy. Looking like I'm going to have to assign personalities to the competing buggys and trucks next season. AJ, Parnelli, Al, Little Al, Mario and Michael come to mind straightaway. Maybe I should throw a Katherine and Mickey in there as well. -AC

Hide your loofah my friend.
There is a rumor that circulates on the internet from time to time that people who live in The Villages will put a loofah (sometimes spelled luffa or loofa) on their car or golf carts to indicate that they are available for swinging, hooking up, or husband/wife swapping (also known as key swapping).
I'm too old for that! :rolleyes:

Well aware. I am south of the villages.
I've thought about doing that to my dad's car without his knowledge.

Its all fun and games until you forget its there and go for a ride with him. 😉🤣

Got a lot of tropical vines, aka Loofa, growing along the edges of the grasstrack. ;) A spray of Round-Up makes short work of them. :p -AC
Never heard of them before, other than the bath loofa's. Pretty interesting.

Me either, Kevin. Had to look it up in my dictionary. It's an older version and kinda short on street vernacular.

Did preliminary measurements on the 2026 track today after cutting it yesterday. Will let the grass do another growth cycle to cover the old track before laying out the new. Also due for a laydown of summer drought resistant fertilizer. Dunno. Still thinking about that. If it gets done, it'll be light coverage. Scotts is expensive. More than doubled in cost last couple of years. Utilities water bill spiked up as well, so frequent watering is now a pricey deal.

Oh well. Adapt and overcome. -AC

Here's the story: The Hotel Bar most famous for swappers was in the Village Square of Spanish Springs. It was called "Katie Belle". Rumor was folks took turns placing their house keys in a glass jar. At the closing time you draw a key and that was your swap for the night.;)
The "Loofah Code". :rolleyes:
White=Novice
Purple=Voyeur
Pink=Soft Swap
Blue=Low Level Swap
Yellow=Mid Level Swap
Black=Full Level Swap

Broke out the lawn mower and did a backyard cut today. Ending hot, tired and sweaty. Decided, oh what the heck. Brought out the the 50ft steel tape, dots and pipe. Layed it out and did the initial cut on the 2026 backyard grasstrack oval.

Thanks to IndyCar and WWT St. Louis for the twin ring idea. Fits my available space better than the earlier conventional oval. Measures out a 1/10 scale 3/16-mile track. So, yeah, it's a bullring. Longer straights than last year, though. Be a new challenge. More to come. Cheers. -AC

That tight turn is going to be fun!

Next season, let's see a figure 8 with a jump over the X 😉

Ha! Yeah, on the west end turn. Come in wide and go out deep. Oh no, jumps? Air scares me. :eek:

Hoping to take out the MT10 tomorrow to do a test run for feel and driving visibility on the track. National will still have to validate the track for 2026. -AC
