Can any one give me some input or reviews on this engine(RB Concepts ST28)
is it a good M/T plant? I was in the market called a couple reputable engine modders and one of them gave me what i believe to be a good price on this with a tuned pipe savage mount and modded. Input please. I feel like
Johnny 5
Thanks

I have this engine in my TMaxx. Unfortunately I've never run it. However, I purchased the mill because I was quite impressed with the super easy break-in on another RB sport engine I have in my buggy. It's idle was superb and consistant and not finicky at all. I know that doesn't tell you much about the ST28 but that's the reason I bought it.

I have ran one in a friends truggy and I reallly liked it. Good smooth power band with a lot on the mid range. Not quite as much power as the Picco P3 but a nicer power curve I think.

I decided to go with the ST28. I'm going through Rick, at RB Mods. This guy was really helpful and didn't mind answering my questions. He said i should run O'Donnell or Byron 30%. I went with the O'Donnell speed blend 30%. I emailed a lot of other places and a couple where helpful, but this guy was friendly and reasonable. I hope this thing screams.......

Byron

I ran Torco in my F4.6 and liked it. I don't race and haven't been in the hobby long, Little more than a year. I ran Sidewinder 20% race blend before the Torco. The Torco had alot more pop and ran cooler. From what I've read O'Donnell, Byron, and Werks are kind of a toss up. Its hard to judge without running them so i just did the ole Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Whats better about the Byron?

Byrons runs a good high lubricant and that allows them to run a lower oil content which in turn means higher and quicker PRMs for the engine.... equals more power. That is what I have noticed about Byrons and O'Donnels both. I have not had the chance to try Torco...I was not in the US when it really hit the shelves.

The only reason i tried the Torco was because i know they make some wicked race fuels for the top fuel drag cars and a lot of other full scale Beasts. People say its not consistent. I only ran four gallons but they all ran the same.

They were trying to get fuel to me when I lived in Okinawa. I had to go to the desert before I could finish the deal so that alone uts th high in my books. They really wanted to supply us there.

No RC

Frickenjoey what branch military are you in ? Do you live in north Korea? Can you get fuel where your at now?

RB MODS built Rb Concepts ST28 on my Savage X. Only 1/2 gallon on the engine and its a beast. The Savage still has the 2 speed. Some basic hopups 47/18 gearing with Axial Cubes and oversized 8 spokes,Ofna throtle/brake linkage mod, upgraded steering servo, radio and reciver.

Damn, that thing is quick! All the punch in the world huh? I wonder how my stock St28 will compare in my Maxx. Guess I should get that thing running :)

Lessen, Thanks I really like it. This thing has power on tap and gets great fuel mileage. I Would love to see what your stock st28 does. Rick Brake @ Rb Mods built it and this guy is nice and communication is topnotch. I dont think he felt real good about this nice 3 port engine getting bashed. When he saw the video he said i tossed it around like a rag doll. lol...anybody interested i would recommend him in a heartbeat. http://www.rbmods.net/home.php

I guess I never answered this...sorry. I am Air Force, live in South Korea (no US military in Nor-Kor) I have a very crappy local hobby shop I get fuel from. That is about all I will buy from them because of prices; Crazy expensive. Looks like that thing is running real good. I like it!! Too cold for nitro right now our highs in the day are only getting up to the low-mid 30s so I figure no running until spring (April maybe?)
