I'm having an issue getting the raised letter "Defender" logo on the front of my Land Rover. Not sure if I'm not leaving it on there long enough before I peel off the burnishing protector or what the deal is. Every time I peel that burnishing protective layer off it wants to take letters with it (twice now). Now, on the back I didn't have that much problem putting the Land Rover raised letter logo, but I'm sure having a problem with the raised letter Defender logo on the front.

Any ideas or any suggestions on what approach I might take to do a better job? Any suggestions on what approach I should take on body prep?

If your not already, peel the release liner flat with the surface and not up.

Thank you Doom! for your feedback. This must have been a real simple question or a real stupid one. Oh well.

I haven't done dry transfer decals for years. But what I do remember is you can't burnish them too hard. And just as Doom said, pull the transfer paper away folding it back over itelf. If you pull straight up, it can pull the transfer away.

I used one of these blending stumps for blending and shading for my sketches in art class to burnish them...

Clean the body with alcohol and let dry before applying. Are the letters flexible or rigid?
Pretty rigid. Not much Flex at all since they're so small. Haven't tried getting back to it because I'm afraid to lose another set. Think I'll do what you said clean the body off let it dry and do what Wickedgog said and not burnish it too much and as you've stated pull the burnishing wrap off straight across the letters instead of up. I peeled the first one off at a 45° angle flat to the decal but it still didn't work. Almost afraid to try it again this will be the third attempt.

I know it's hard to hold everything in place while pulling release liner off, but if you can press the edge of the letter down with the blunt edge of an Xacto blade while peeling the liner back it will help keep it in position until you reach the next letter and so on.

I'll give it a try very soon and return with the results. As I mentioned I only get one more shot at this.

Wish I could be there to help, just take your time.
